He filled a place, worked hard and tenaciously we may well miss him. Good luck James for the future

Personally was never quite sure why we bought him - on big wages and quite injury prone.

First season was mainly used as a sub and 2nd missed large chunks due to injury.

Did ok but had no pace and minimal creativity - not dissimilar to the midfielders we already had.

Best memory was his performance away at Man U early last season.

Well done for getting a 4 year deal

Celtic showing massive ambition with the signings of Joe Hart and James McCarthy. They should storm that league even if the play just the two.

Why? He's the only midfielder we've let go and we have already brought in Gallagher on loan.

Do you think Jimmy Mac and Milo are still good enough and have the pace and energy for another hard season?

I don't see Milo as good enough but then I didn't last season. As for Jimmy Mac, he's good enough still (when fit) but won't play too many 90 mins games. The point however was about replacing McCarthy and in Gallagher we have done. Also Kouyate is likely to revert to his midfield role this season. With PV only wanting to play one DM, I don't see a pressing need for bringing another one in. What resources remain will be reserved for a striker and a wide player IMO.

It will be interesting to see the next position to be strengthened, as you mention a wide player which could possibly be the Arsenal player. Last season I thought we got overwhelmed in midfield on a regular basis.
