Just commented about Lukaku coming from Italy and Covid. Can see a fair few players having to self isolate after positive tests. Also if AFCON goes ahead in Jan, then players who go might have longer returns. With injuries and Covid this season is going to be a lottery for all teams.

That is a top 8 team and squad

IMHO that is a bottom 8 squad. Eze and Olise and injured with no return date and Armstrong has just signed for the Saints.

That midfield we be overrun, and Eze showed repeatedly last year that he has no defensive ability.

Surely it's Jimmy Mac, Jairo/Luka and an.other probably Gallagher.

On the basis of who we currently have and picking the team when all of them are fully fit (so probably not before December) I'd go for the following:

Guaita

Ferguson Andersen Guehi Mitchell

Gallagher Riedewald McArthur

Eze Benteke Zaha

Bench (9 players)

Butland Ward Tomkins Kouyate Schlupp Milivojevic
Olise Ayew Mateta.

That leaves (if I've got it right) Clyne, Kelly and the Palace youngsters not included.

Come Afcon and injuries we would soon be struggling, so possibly need a couple more proven PL players.

Youth, Loans, Manager with no Premier League management experience, new coaching staff, and 6 weeks to pull it together. We need to be patient. For me if we survive, it will be a fantastic achievement and a just what we need with the investment in youth made by the board. Good luck to us, lets enjoy the season ahead, and look forward to seeing my fellow supporters at Selhurst.
