The physique thing is a slight issue for me. The direct comparison I guess is with Wilf who was a similar build iirc when he first broke into the side.

That said it may be simply the case that it would hold him back from his potential and not mean that he wouldn't be effective. He still has the skill to "break the lines" - he just can't power through them.

I'm guessing this will be a known issue and there will be some programme to "build him up" not least because he was only released by Chelsea since he was too small.

I'm hoping for appearances off the bench and regular squad picks. There was a thread a while back about Roy not blooding youngsters. For me the ideal scenario is not simply to throw them in and see if they sink or swim - Medieval trial by combat style. Better to introduce step by step. Learn about match day preparation with the squad, run outs for minutes to learn abut the physicality and pace of the game and then starts.

AFCON we're going to be very short wide with Wllf, Ayew and Schlupp out- that could be the time when we need him most and he could be getting serious minutes. Another 4/5 months - that can be an age in the progress of a young player

I agree.

I think we will see him blooded this season, and essentially as being part of the first team squad the management team will be the most informed as to his readiness.

I can't remember a time when we had so many promising youngsters this close to breaking into the side....Sakyi, Banks, Hannam being the closest.

Shame about Dreher because I think he'd already have made appearances without those injuries.

He certainly has the skill to play now. He was outstanding in the U18 last season, and he looks at least as promosing as Wilf at the same age.

I can see the reluctance of DF to buy a right side player in this window, with Jes, and also Olise favouring that side of attack.

We probably need a bit of patience, and faith, in the early part of this season.

I certainly agree with your comments around patience and faith in the early part of the season - its a very tough start especially the first 5 away games.

I would be very surprised if he and Banks are not fully integrated into the match day squad starting at Chelsea. Whilst both will have physical challenges with the PL along with developing their defensive attributes, they clearly have the talent/skill to adapt. I would suspect they might both start to come on for the last c30 mins so they have time to gradually adapt. Equally, on the basis of pre season, both could change games against tiring defenders who are less likely to be aware of their attributes.

As others have said, great to have such two young and exciting talents at the club.

I see Rak-Sakyi this season as an option off the bench for the last 20-25 mins if we are chasing a game. He has sufficient trickery to cause tiring defenders problems.

I expect him to feature in early cup games )let's hope we have more than 2 of those this year!

I think he will make some appearances from the bench, when defenders are more tired.

He has skill and has good acceleration but he's physically slight.

Those initial appearances will reveal all.

The manager has changed. Meyer may possibly have been rather interesting in our current set up.

Get him out on loan at a league 1 club, will be much better for him and us

He needs a Championship club if he is to progress.

Another Meyer.

Not from what I've seen.

Bench appearances will reveal whether he's ready.

A very careful choice of Championship club, he is so young the wrong choice now could be counter productive..

Not sure he'll be going anywhere but oddly Blackburn may have been an option a week back as a sweetener.

Their attack last season was 50% Elliott on loan from Liverpool. He was firing the bullets for Armstrong.

Whoever the manager is he is far too light weight to confront 15 stone 6ft.3inch Centre backs. He needs more omph.
