How can we be second favourite to be relegated. Yes our relegation odds have tumbled already. Preemptively so in my view, due to how some see the style of management impacting our results perhaps. I'm far less doom and gloom than the odds suggest..

I feel that if we can stay up this season we can really kick on in the next two or three seasons with all the young and emerging players that can only get better.

Look at the grief they even gave Bobby Robson before he left for the second time. He was even spat on. So if that counts as support then they are welcome to it. Norwich, Watford, and Southampton for me. With Southampton they lost some important players (Ings, Vestergaard). Ings' goals and all round play were so important to them last season, its asking a lot of Armstrong to be able to step into that void. I think Armstrong will do ok, but not good enough Newcastle are another candidate, Wilson cant stay fit for long, and without him they look a bit blunt Edited by MrRobbo (03 Sep 2021 12.00pm)

Just do not understand why we are suggested to be in the relegation mix given our superb transfer window AND retaining Wilf.

Yes we've had a great window but at this stage we don't know whether Vieira is a good manager or not and we've no idea if Eduardo will do the business or not. Time will tell.

I am naturally a "glass half full" person, but I worry about the degree of optimism being shown. We all know how tough the PL is. There aren't any bankers. Playing the big boys at their own game will make for attractive football, but as they are better at it than we are likely to be, will it produce many points? The teams who play on the counter, as we used to, will grind out points against us. So I think we need to keep our feet on the ground. This could be a long, hard season.

I agree with this - optimistic but cautiously. I still think we've a serious lack of quality on the flanks and at full back. Also pace / intensity.
