All of the above will block the progress of Hannanm, Kirby, Rak-saki etc. Throw em in...let's see what they got. (Although I agree, LB could do with some cover.)

Or get one or 2 experienced players at the end of their career who can alternate with the youngsters for one season so they wont block their progress.

I know this goes against the new policy but think about the impact Kevin Phillips or Cahill made on us.

There has to be a some senior lower league players who would jump at the chance to play a few games in the top flight.

A new winger and a striker. Our problem for the last few seasons has been scoring goals and that has not been entirely down to Roy's tactics. The bigger teams can push on knowing we don't carry much threat on the break while the smaller teams can simply double up on the one or two players we have that do carry a threat.

Edouard has an excellent record of scoring, even if it is the Scottish PL and he's also reasonably tall at 6' 2". There doesn't seem to be a huge scramble for his services so maybe we might be able to get him for a reasonable fee. If we could get Brooks for right wing I think that'd be an excellent signing if he stays fit. He has the confidence and ability to get on the ball and make things happen.

I think we need to upgrade our central midfield, replace out missing right wing and have another striker.

Our main problem IMO is the ease with which teams have overrun or bypassed our midfield and our midfield's lack of forward movement (without Eze).

If we bolster our midfield then we should be able to create more scoring opportunities for our front men.

If Wilf is going to continue to play an inside left type role then the LB or LWB will need to be the one to supply crosses for Tekkers. We currently have no-one who seems capable of providing him with crosses from the right.

The only realistic deputy for Tekkers at present is Ayew which shows how short we are of strikers (As each game goes by it becomes more likely that Mateta will be back in Mainz before too long IMO).

So, IMO, we need:
1. A right winger
2. another striker
3. a midfielder.

It would be nice to get another LB or a second midfielder that would allow Schlupp to move to LB, if Mitchell needs to be given time out.

With regard to the right winger, it might be that Olise will fill that role once he's up and running (hopefully after the first international break, given what PV said last week).

I think that is about right. A pacey right winger who can cross would be my number one priority.

Agreed

Spilt milk and all that but I regret Townsend here - very much expect him to be feeding Calvert-Lewin plentifully this season.

Need a younger cheaper version for Benteke to feed off.

Benteke is not hungry enough and is the wrong type of striker for the modern game that why he struggles!

He is what we have and is as good in the air as any really. I was encouraged by PV pointing this out.

Look at the stats and we sent in the second fewest number of crosses last season! That will be partially a factor of filtering everything through Wilf who inevitably cuts in but it made us incredibly one dimensional.

Tucking Wilf in slightly where he gravitates naturally and is more dangerous anyway and allowing more width to provide Benteke too adds another dimension and that cannot be a bad thing. Only Calvert- Lewin scored more headers last time (7 to 6) and that was on the back of way more minutes.

Add more crosses and minutes and then an increase in output is easily foreseeable.

Townsend always seemed to put in a good shift buy his actual number of assists in the past 2 seasons you could count on one hand. We have to get a proper winger who will put in 5/6 crosses per game.

True on actual output

But I'm guessing that was Royball as much as anything. Time will tell but one assist from one match at Everton (plus a good preseason) seems to indicate that he still has it - or enough anyway

I don’t for a moment think it will happen but I think you could double the two and make four.
Having seen Hannams present form, we need a left back. With Eze, out for months , and Riedewald , still not consistent enough, and Mc, Carthy ,, gone. A mid fielder. Just as last year we need a decent option to Benteteke, so a frontman. And a right footed right winger, it would be nice if he uses both feet , but essentially right footed enough to be crossing with the opposition defence facing their own goal, Olise , is so left footed he doesn’t really bring that, yes he delivers a good ball, but it’s invariably off his left foot after turning back and in. Anyway Olise, would cover for Eze, just as well. I know you can’t have everything ,we are Palace after all , Let’s hope we get at least two of those.

Pure Sarcasm but bearing in mind the lack of resemblance between Saturday's performance and a Premiership Football team, I'd suggest we get a Quarter Back and a Wicket Keeper.
