A truly disgraceful matchday experience for many.

The thing is all the current English owners at Palace and the 2 before them are all apparently local men ‘made good’, that started going to the ground with their dads/grandads . We hear about them being taken in the Arthur/holmesdale as kids.
That roof is a massive ‘couldn’t give a f*ck about the working man’ attitude, an if it was an oversight and no one noticed it would cause a problem, they f*cking should have.
All the owners have apparently been brought up in our bits of the ground and none of them has ever thought about the s*it we get offered at selhurst.
Surely there is money to be made if it was better. Loads of the pubs shutting round the ground, so they’ve got a captive audience. . Even the Massive queues at the bars , they are losing money.
It’s not like they are the Man City owners who have never drank out of a plastic cup.
Even if the money is an insignificant amount, how about giving a f*ck about the 25,000 fans that aren’t sitting in the posh bit.

Completely agree. Reminds me of the Arthur when they slapped in that massive gantry for the TV cameras (granted a hard one to avoid) but then when they replaced the seats in the Arthur, the leg room in the first row of the back section was/is so small you end up getting the blood supply cut off to your feet. Then they wonder why people are standing...

I can understand why folk would be furious with this roof thing. It's either the undesirable result of a new premier league regulation, or just a bright idea for a stadium improvement that turned out to be a bit of a f*** up.

Either way, someone has neglected to properly consider the affected supporters, and that needs to be addressed quickly and well.

Still, I don't believe any of the board sit there in black swivel chairs, stroking white cats and cackling manically at their latest exploitative wheeze. Maybe go and re-watch the amazon documentary again if you find yourself thinking that way. That, and give the club a chance to address this mistake. If the club is unresponsive before the next home game and the structure remains in place, that's a very different matter, but for now, s*** happens - give them a chance.

Regarding food and drink, can anyone bring to mind a time when the price, quality, service and facilities were anything other than abject s***? The question is not why it's so bad, but why so many people keep rewarding the club for such a poor effort, thereby making the provision of s***-catering economically viable?

Whether it's expensive replica tops, obscene match ticket prices, inconvenient kick off times or anything else, it will only change if we stop giving them our money. A twenty pound note handed over grudgingly is worth no less than one you were happy to spend.

Not going to Palace at all is a step too far for most of us (though people do), but you can bin the other stuff to different degrees. Though I admit to sometimes caving in to the kids nagging, I generally don't buy food at Palace, and I haven't bought a beer in Selhurst since the 1990s.

Given the price of beer and food, even a pub with heating, comfortable seating, good service and a range of nice beers and meals to choose from can struggle to constitute good value. Why the hell anyone chooses to accept nearly-pub-prices to patronise a cramped, freezing cold concrete hole devoid of seating, where waiting to be served takes longer than the interval of the entertainment you've paid to see, where the people serving you have no discernable skill or interest, where you get treated like a f***ing moron (You can buy a bottle of fizzy drink, but can't have the plastic screw-on bottle top, so now you have to spend the second half constantly checking your seven year old isn't about to knock it over everyone every time he puts the bottle down, or stands up to see. If a bottle with a lid on is so dangerous a weapon then sell the drink in a paper cup for f***s sake), is beyond me.

I can understand the traditional aspect of it, but I just let the kids spend a few quid in the local shops before the match, selecting from a far wider range of snacks and sweets at normal prices. Bung their crisps, sweets etc in their little rucksack, off to the game, and have little or no dealings with the godforsaken 'catering' at Palace. If everyone did that, they might see the need to offer better value.

I mean, what they'd actually do is ban little kids bringing snacks into the ground of course, but still, point is that you can't really complain about the catering whilst continuing to support it.
