Didn’t see the game, but have watched Vieira’s post match interview.
He’s clearly not happy with our attacking efforts and claims we lack aggression and display sloppiness in forward areas.
He also, not for the first time, says we need two further forwards.
The rumours are that we after a winger on loan (Lookman, Nelson ?) and a striker ( Nkethia, Edouard?).
Two of those would clearly bolster the squad but there has to be a question mark whether they would dramatically improve our scoring threat.

In the meantime, one A Townsend scored the winner for Everton last night against Huddersfield.

Like somebody else posted - opportunity missed to give youngsters a game. What was the thinking in playing a strong line up? That’s a kick in the teeth

Ultimately backfired

Only positive I can se is that Tomkin played and while he did we kept a clean sheet

Not sure it’s a positive about Tomkin…he’s only got 15 or so games in him a season now and we have used one up on this.

Your defence keeps a clean sheet for 81 minutes and then you change it. What's the thinking there?

Got this horrible feeling that this was it for Vieria tonight.

Don’t get me wrong - not calling for him to go by any means, but sometimes there is that game or that moment that defines things. That didn’t look like a side playing for him - and RH has to take a lot of the blame as he killed a lot of confidence in the side.

Like Roy Keane, I don’t think he’s experienced a lot of adversity and is managing players who were beneath his level. But it all just has that feeling. It doesn’t feel quite right, no matter how much we’d like it to.

Were you at the game? I'd be interested to hear from someone who was.

The write up suggested we controlled the game but couldn't find the net. Maybe it is just as simple as getting a proficient striker in?

I was at the game. We did control a lot of the game and looked assured playing out from the back. The problem was in the final third and a lack of creativity. Gallagher was a bundle of energy again and I think he was subbed to be saved for the weekend. Zaha was glued to the touchline most of the game but when he did get it there was still something missing.
Good to see Anderson start to send those long passes out of defence like he was doing to Lookman last season.
I would have liked to see Rak-Saki given a go in the second half. The three new signings looked class. The longer the game went on without us scoring the more you feared from a break away sucker punch and in the end that how it played out.

I'm so Palace I don't even know it

he was also on a yellow so sensible move to get him off.

It's gonna be a long hard season let's not pretend otherwise. This was always going to take time.. The blame lays squarely at the feet of the board who somehow thought that letting a squad deteriorate to a level of having 11 players out of contract was the best way to progress a club.

People have got to be patient... Hopefully we won't get cut off at the bottom of the table by the time things come together a bit more.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I was at the game. 1st half was very enjoyable and in complete control (the formation and players chosen worked perfectly), some of the passing from the back was a joy to watch!!
Fully understand taking off both Tomkins (played well and save him before getting injured) and Gallagher (who was excellent again and save for WH). Sorry but how Ayew stayed on to not be replaced by Rak-Sakyi was beyond me, bringing on Mitchell made no sense. Pat obviously making a point about lack of attacking options on the bench.
Mateta - it feels like another Sorloth Im afraid. We are desperate for a mobile centre forward and attacking right winger. Another centre midfielder who can link the play (although we do have Eze and Olise who can fill those positions in the future) .

I went to the game, and it will come as no surprise that our downfall is the final 3rd.

We looked impressive at the back (other than the goal) with Guehi and Andersen looking a good partnership. Gallagher was the stand out player again with his energy levels and willingness to get us forward.

But once we get within 35 yards of their goal, bad decision making, loose touches, poor passing, let us down. Had Benteke started, at least he would have held the ball up. I’ve not seen anything of Mateta which indicates he will get the goals we desperately need and too lightweight.

Zaha looks a patch of the player he once was. He either looks like he is playing with a slight injury or fear of getting one. He has lost the attacking intent and seldom takes players on. If anything, he slows our play down.

It’s harsh on Vieira that he is getting such criticism and comparisons to FdB. He can only implement a system which he thinks can win games. Unfortunately, we don’t have the players to implement it. What’s the option, go back to playing negative football which no one enjoyed watching. I was actually pleased he played a full strength side as I hate all this modern day football where you play a weakened side in cup games.

In conclusion, we need Eze back and a new striker desperately or we will be going down for certain. Losing too many core players from last seasons team is also have detrimental affects as it’s too much change. Missing Andros and Van Aanholt.

Dreading West Ham as once they go 1 nil up, it’s game over.

"Manchester City have scored 108 GOALS in cup competitions since Crystal Palace last netted in the Carabao or FA Cup... with Vieira's men still looking for first cup goal in TWO AND A HALF YEARS!"
Daily Mail today! Says it all about our problems....
