Evident to all and sundry that we need a proven striker or,as predicted by Talk Sport,we are down this season.

The club is obviously pursuing a striker.
I’m wondering why we didn’t compete harder with Southampton for Armstrong .
It was widely reported he was coming to us and that we were his preferred choice.
The reported £15 million didn’t seem excessive for a young striker with a good scoring record and one who possesses attributes our other strikers don’t.
Did we opt out over price or because we have a preferred option we’re going to unveil in the next few days?
Hopefully it’s the latter because the lack of goals from our current striker options means we’ll have to keep a lot of clean sheets to accumulate points this season.

Vieira has said we are pursuing forwards in a number of interviews and I have no reason to disbelieve him.While some of the speculation is no doubt generated by agents it would appear we were in for Armstrong and are also considering Nketiah amongst others.
Having said this, I can see how supporters could be sceptical about some of our transfer dealings over recent seasons when we have failed to get players over the line.
