When folk put 'Out' next to players names I can only imagine they're thinking of taking Martin Kelly to the beach then driving off and leaving him there.

These players would need to be bought by someone. No obvious reason to think any of the first team squad will be sold, if only because there's no obvious reason to think anyone will be interested in paying transfer fees for the ones we would consider selling, if indeed there are any given the size of the squad. I'd be concerned if any of the senior players were sold this summer.

As far as further signings goes, we will probably end up going to the wire, and may or may not be successful. The reason for this approach remains the same as it has since transfer windows were introduced, and the refusal of football fans the world over to grasp it continues to baffle: The transfer market is largely an auction, not a shop.

Whether the squad needs further drastic surgery is still unclear. Of course we'd be better off with better players, but it's far too early to say whether the current players can achieve this seasons aim of staying up whilst playing a different style. It wasn't long ago that most of us were in agreement that we should expect one step backwards to begin with in terms of results, especially given the fixtures, so I'm not sure that the limited evidence of three games should bring about drastic alterations to the clubs medium term plans.

The signings so far have been great and there's a lot of buzz around our window being "one of the best" but frankly it's still not good enough. They absolutely have to bring in a minimum of two more players otherwise when s*** hits the fan it won't be so easy to drop the blame on the manager this time. Haven't seen Vieira smile once since the pre-season Watford match, probably because he's slowly realising he's been sold up the river.
If Parish hadn't found his fortune in advertising he'd have done just as well in the second hand car lot.

Would love a left back. Mitchell isn’t that great and young players go through spells of losing form. To have no backup there isn’t great.

And yes of course another striker is needed but I do think if we could do something radical and cross the ball more than once a game, we might see benteke score!

Our senior wide men are injured (Eze), Schlupp who isn't really one but can play on the left, and Zaha who plays on his opposite wing as an inside forward. Even last season we were thin on the ground with another inside forward in Townsend. The obvious solution: Zaha on the right so he crosses and Schlupp on the left. Our only cover currently would be Banks and Rak-Sakyi, until Eze is fit. Clearly not good enough out wide. Full back similar problem. We could perhaps play narrow but that seems pretty defensive and Teams could easily get around our slow full backs - as we've already seen this season. Wide men desperately needed or use the youth. I haven't put Ayew because, quite simply, he does not play well as a winger, in my opinion.

Given the swiftness of the signings we have made, and the bleeding obvious need for a striker, I'm confident that there is work going on behind the scenes. Good strikers are always harder to get in the door.

Striker. Forward. Poacher. Onion bagger. Attacker. Centre forward.

Any of the above.

surely we need a right sided winger too as we haven't replaced Andros.

Zaha could (should?) play there but rarely does and i suppose Olise, when fit, could also play there but ATM we look unbalanced on that side of the pitch.

If PV wants to play a 433 formation i'm not sure a striker is the priority. Someone to create and add pace seems a must. We look slow and predictable going forward

In:
Would love to see Dolberg at Palace, from what I saw at the Euros he has the attributes of a complete striker and only 23.

Out:
Zaha, straight swap for Dolberg and he gets his Champions league football.
Zaha's head isn't right and it's been affecting his levels of performance for a while now and I can't see him changing.

Agreed. We don't even have a full squad and people want to reduce the limited resources we have. We are NOT going to complete the transition during this window given the sheer size of the task. We're not going to spending £100m plus this window to replace those we've let go.

The first thing is to review where we are next Wednesday after the transfer window closes.

Then it's how things look once our 3 longer term injuries are up and running.

Despite the disappointing failure to put away our chances on Tuesday, the build up play was promising. I believe Vieira and his team will be able to change the players' mentality when it comes to playing in the final third.

There really is no need to panic.

We need a left back, right winger and centre forward absolute minimum. Yes I’m impressed with the players we have bought in so far but we lost 9 or 10 players in the off season and bringing in half that number to replace them will be catastrophic.

Rather strong and desperate language. Let's remind ourselves who we got rid of.
- Wickham and Sakho = regular absentees through injury and/or whatever. So no loss there as far as their contributions last season go
- Dann and Cahill = slowing up all the time and replaced by superior players in Andersen and Guehi
- Hennessey expensive 3rd choice keeper not needed as replaced by Butland last season
- Henderson - replaced by Matthews
- Woods - didn't feature so won't be missed
- McCarthy - injury prone and of limited value. We have a far superior upgrade having loaned Gallagher
- Batshuayi sent back to Chelsea having produced little last season
- We are left with PvA and Townsend. We could do with replacements for them both. However, Olise should be an adequate replacement for Andros once he's back (probably next month).

So catastrophic if we don't sign anyone else? I don't see it as that bad.

Agreed, it's not that.

I think people are playing a numbers game - we had 9 go out ( example ) so 9 must come in.

Looks like the Hughes deal is getting finalised, another 2 in would be nice.

I think we will see 1 more purchase and another loan.
