All Whites was always a bit naff.

Seemed like they were just coming up with the opposite of the rugby union team for the sake of it.

The All Black's nickname has been around for 100 years, and came about organically. Many teams are called "the reds", "les bleu", "the whites", even "the tigers" when the colour combos get too complicated. The All Black's is unique to New Zealand rugby and when you mention it, people know exactly who you are referring too.

The All Whites just sounds crap. People do not associate NZ with football, and they certainly aren't the first football team you'd think of that play in white. It's just a crappy gimmick like the Soccerroo's or the Lionesses.

NZ are better off without this cheap branding. Not worth getting worked up over.

luckily for you Stirling I think Whyte & Mackay is OK bcos the 'Whyte' is spelt with a 'y', otherwise you may have been struggling to get hold of some. West Ham will have to stop calling themselves 'irons' bcos it is plainly homophobic - hopefully we can get something from the 'ferrous ones' tomorrow.

To you it sounds crap.

Besides, all that matters is why the name would be changed. Here the reason given is purely unacceptable.

There is no valid reason to change the name that they have been using for decades..

Give it a few decades and they will be knocking down or altering anything associated with the Europeans who created this civilization.....because they don't like being reminded.

Some guy predicted this a few decades ago, and no one listened.

Seems like there's a bit of internet sensationalism from the original story. The version of events in the NZ Herald is pretty balanced.

It's just a consultation. A lot of people do think the name change is stupid.

But it is an opportunity for grumpy white people on the other side of the world to try and claim victimisation again.

It's still a rubbish name. Play in lime green, call themselves the Kiwi's.
