1.25% point increase on employees’ and employers’ National Insurance Contributions, a 10% increase on current rates, to pay for state subsidised social care. Given that it’s only those employed and their employers that pay this tax and no one over 65, whether employed or not, pays it or not, is this fair? Unearned income such as rental profits, dividends, interest etc. not subject to NIC. A tax that only hits the younger, working, less wealthy population.

Given the demographic on here I’m sure you’re all delighted my generation will be working the next 30 years to pay for someone to wipe your arse in a couple of year’s time but thoughts on here? A manifesto pledge broken by Johnson but does anyone give a sh*t what he does or doesn’t do or say?

So the Government fund an improvement in Social care and Lefties are still moaning.

You see, this is the big problem with Lefties. They want to spend loads of other people's money, but never want to pay for anything themselves.

i am planning to drop dead close to retirement age, as Nature intended. Assisted by an epicurean lifestyle today.

Who the f..ck wants to get to the age of Prince Philip but without the big bank balance ?

Currently Dan , most of your taxes pay to wipe the arse of legions of kids born to the legions of longterm unemployed. Kids often sired by people who have never paid a penny income-tax in their life.

Keep yourself fit Dan, we might need you! I don"t think anyone listens to boris anymore, not even the tory boys, how it came to this that he is the best they could get is beyond me, but it is quite entertaining all the same to see the hole he is digging, even with an 80 seat majority!

This is a tricky one. On the downside this smacks of numerous pledges being broken and whoever pays will point to somebody who should be paying more but isn’t. However, like every other new tax, once it’s been introduced the difficult decision has been made. If Dan thinks it is unfair, then the next parliament can adjust it to reflect a new batch of those who can pay extra. It’s the ‘ creep’ that worries me, whereby the goalposts will be moved and the figures are increased. Think VAT, APD etc. Personally, a relation of mine was due to collect her state pension aged 60 - she now has to wait another 6 years to get it due to the rules changing at the whim of the number crunchers…

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Whilst I agree with you about workers over the age of 65 and unearned income needing to be properly looked at in regard to tax/NIC, I take issue with the youth of today feeling hard done by on this issue. Every one of "the demographic on here" have had to pay for the last 30 years (and more) to wipe the arses of the older generation so what's the issue?

Also, it would be nice to feel a little appreciated for the 19 years of free health care and dentistry you were offered that we paid into for you.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

You make some valid points. However, it will be all generations who will be paying more and will be squeezed more, and more, to pay for your old age care as well, and every generation after that.

A 10% tax hike!

So please do shut up about lefties moaning etc etc, just ask Dido what she did with that £37 billion, don't think that was lefties spending other peoples money!

£350 million a week for the NHS following Brexit, where is it all?

Probably. And it made me laugh. But he made a valid point that ‘rental profits, dividends, interest etc are not subject to NIC.’ Everything the cabinet members make in high figures coincidentally. It really does come across as favouring the well off and widening the wealth gap.

I bet it doesn’t get to where it should anyway. Will probably pay for pointless positions in the NHS and annoying procedures that cost money and reduce resources available to the public.

It went down with the ship?
She won't put her hands up and surrender.
And there will be no white flag above her door.

Didn’t NHS spending increase by that amount due to some other reason/effect?
