Sorry to have to say this but Connor is a malingerer, apart from one very serious injury most of his injuries are strains and pulls where the player has the last word when he feels he is fit enough to train. A two week layoff to most players would take him six to recover and even his knee injury Yannick had similar and was back in nine months, it took CW almost two years to recover. I think he's in love with the lifestyle rather than the game itself. Shame because he had ability

Genuinely feel sorry for Conor. On the pitch just a few minutes for Preston and picked up another injury, had to go off.

He really needs some good fortune. Hope it's not bad.

If the lad has any sense, he would have realised years ago that his body wasn't up to it, and that he was never going to be back to what he was.

But as being contracted to a football club represents his best and biggest income chances he's done what he needs to do. Do his rehab, get training again, get injured again repeat.

ITs annoying for the club paying, but in reality we'd all do the same for 50k a week. Cant imagine many players walking away from a wage vs trying to prolong thing.

Only one that springs to mind is Dean Ashton...but maybe he got a decent pay-out from the FA, I remember him trying to go after them

He doesn’t need any more good fortune, he has been very highly paid during his time at Palace.it wasn’t his fault, that he has been injured.
He has been paid £2.5m a year to try and get fit, I don’t think he needs our sympathy. There are plenty more worthy cases for sympathy.

You're right - it is the "George Best / where did it all go wrong?" story if you look at it dispassionately.

Connor has had all the luck in the world to be a multi-millionaire in his 20s. That he has suffered injuries that prevent him from playing football has not stopped him accumulating what can only be described as fabulous wealth.

Better to feel sorry for someone suffering who is not a multi-millionaire really.

It's sad to think that you can only feel sympathy for one person

I think its more of a case that whilst he has been desperately unluckily with injuries, the guy is still set for life.

Nice car, nice house and if he has been sensible he'll never have to work another day in his life. I suspect most of the words population would swap places with a 28 year old multi millionaire.

So yeah, its a bit s*** for him, but its still a better hand than most

Sorry, I didn't know he hasn't worthy of sympathy because he was paid well.

I have a family member with a serious knee injury and I can honestly say that if you offered her the choice of a healthy knee or 2.5 million pounds, she would pick the healthy knee.

Regardless of how much he was paid, he's a footballer, he wants to play football, not be injured every 5 minutes.

I’d put a lot of money on the fact that if he could have avoided all his injuries he would have. Being injured in pro sport is really frustrating and depressing. When you make it to the top you want to be super fit and injury free. This has not been a get rich quick game by Connor. Because of his contracts he’s made the fortune but inside he will be so down. He came so close to super status, but sadly never quite got there due to constant injuries. I wish him all the best.

Well said dreamwaverider I agree 100%,Connor Wickham deserved better luck with constant injuries plaugeing him, nobody walks onto a pitch to get injured not even for £50K a week and sit and watch your team mates from stand.
