The best striker of the ball as Roy picked in his squad - And didn’t pick a corner taker. Bloody hell, this is like trying to debate with Dianne Abbot. This the same Diane Abbott that went to Cambridge. You could have called out Priti awful for same.

Roy had a job to do which was keep club in EPL with very little spend until high wage owners could be allowed to leave. If you listen to pros who have played for Roy they all mention his man management skills and his attention to detail. Townsend has started well for Everton but he has always had purple patches let see if it lasts. I think he was offered a new contract at Palace but on less wages so he decided as is his right to move on, Good luck to him. The fact is our wage bill was paralysing club and stopping us moving forward. The players who extended have all accepted lower money than before. As a club we can not afford players on more than 100k per week

I think 'fantastic' is a fair assessment for a few of those performances. Agree that Hodgson couldn't be trusted with the money but only because of his age and impending retirement. A younger manager was needed to see us through the transition. If Roy was 15 years younger I'd trust him 100% because he's a proven top class manager. His lack of substitutions towards the end was frustrating, however, did we ever have any game changers on the bench? It was mostly journeyman midfields and defenders making up the numbers. He recognised that we would struggle to score so he had us well drilled to make ourselves hard to beat. His brief was to keep us up on a shoestring budget and he achieved it comfortably every season. He will go down in history as a Palace hero for successfully navigating us through a tough period. We are where we are now because of Roy. He's paved the way for PV to take us to the next level (before he moves to Arsenal!).

Personally I think Andros needed a change as much as we did as fans. Neither he nor the team had really put in more than one or two great performances for at least 18 months and his shooting and passing had been pretty woeful for a long while. We can analyse tactics all we want, but last season he often struggled to find his man from 10-yards away and he rarely got a shot on target. He's moved on and so have we. I think the one regret is how badly the club seemed to manage his exit and how public he made that. Personally I'm thankful for Roy finally bringing stability to the club, but equally glad that he's now gone. Of our long-term servants I'm sure many agree, with Zaha even smiling again.

I think he will fizzle out as the season goes on. Not a player I disliked though, but things have to move on and times change.

Not sure where you've got that idea.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

An assist and a great goal and all of a sudden letting Townsend go is the greatest mistake Palace have a ever made. Townsend is a decent player but he is not going to be missed. Move on folks.

Roy came up with a simple, tedious, formula, that was enough to get by. It didn't get the best out of players, and was found wanting in many areas. It worked in the short term, producing average results, but in the long term no more than managing a slow decline. Townsend and Palace players have shown huge signs of improvement without him. I'd like to leave you alone, your debate skills are so terrible I have no other option but to drum home the bleeding obvious. Honestly, I think it's best you give up? Or just dont be a dick in your replies.
