He would have been a better player for us this season under PV and certainly a better fit than Ayew - in my opinion.
He wanted too much money that we were not prepared to pay so he left - shame, but such is life in the Premier League.
Rafa loves him and he loves to be loved.

i would imagine any good player requesting a pay-rise just after speaking to their friend (RAFA) who is now managing another Prem team.

whereas a player headed for the dole queue, not so much.

It is always our own fault when we lose some good talent (Muzza, Andros), but i am sure it blights every football club.

the 'Net-We-had' at the Etihad....again

Far better to let him go and develop a young player who will do well for us for year to come.

True, as long as we do that. Although PV gave some of the academy players some game time pre-season, and Rak-Sakyi had a few minutes at Chelsea, our bench now seems to be made up of senior players.

The younger ones are on the pitch. We won't transform the squad In six games,we need two seasons to get things gelled and running properly.

Yes it's funny how there are those on here pleading to add youth but successive coaching teams revert to experience.

I am hoping they are using this season to stabilise (thus reliance on seniors to begin with) and introduce youth slowly.

Perhaps Olise to start today?

I tend to agree.

Andros had been great for us on the whole, always put a shift in, scored several goals for us and one absolute worldie! (Goal of the Season and way better than the Kompany shot in every department)

He had been with us for a while though and his performances were sometimes a little underwhelming (possibly down to the negative style of play insisted upon by the manager) and he was not necessarily a first choice starter. Faced with the situation at the end of his contract I would’ve liked to have kept him and seen him under PV but fully understand why we decided not to renew, at the wage levels being asked for, and the fact that we have other options coming through for the Right Hand side.

I’m delighted he is doing well at Everton but as others have said, it is potentially a number of factors (fresh start, different style, playing alongside better players and being reunited with Rafa) that has enabled this and I doubt we would’ve seen the same impact for us had he stayed.

I wish him all the best, apart from in the games against us!

It seems logical that PV will primarily pick more experienced players to establish a foundation for the season. As it progresses and our points tally improves then perhaps then he can draft in some of the youngsters for some game time and experience with the senior side.
There are of course also injuries to consider. Hopefully they won't be as bad and squad depleting as previous seasons. Plus we have players due to return.

And so it should at present IMO. Our priority is surely to bed in PV's more proactive but more risky style of play that so many of us are enjoying watching. It will take time for that to happen even though things seem to be progressing quicker than many of us imagined.

Our youngsters are better served striving to make their mark in the U23 league, with the better ones continuing to train regularly with the first team squad. Also bear in mind that we have no fewer than 7 players whose contracts currently end next summer (Kelly, Tomkins, Clyne, McArthur, Kouyate, Ayew and Schlupp) plus 2 loans ending as well. I expect 2 or 3 of our U23 youngsters, though, will get outings in the second half of the season. There really is no rush to get them into the first team whilst we have the strength of squad we currently have.

Won't take that long considering the amount of training involved, less then eight games.

I thought we'd see the fruits FROM Xmas but, as you say, it may be sooner.

Perhaps partly down to the upgrade in our coaching, especially the new guy from PSG?

Exciting times.

I think not.

He's a good guy and a good player and I'm pleased he's doing well.

Also doubt he was asking for loads of money, I reckon he was offered a reduced contract, so it's not like he's a prima donna and was making outrageous demands.

But if he was still here, Olise, Rak Sakyi, Eze would be held back just that little bit more. Their seniority has been elevated in his absence. Hopefully by May '22 we'll be confident we're better off.
