I always thought the choppy shooting was part of it, it wasn’t supposed to be slick, it was supposed to be unnatural to represent the situation,

Interesting to note: Timothy Spall, who played Barry is a big Palace fan, as is his famous son Rafe.

Tim Spall, now seen as a majorly accomplished film actor, lived in Forest Hill. (not sure if he's still there).

An actor called Michael Simkins wrote in his autobiography that he was at acting school with Timothy Spall and when he walked in everyone assumed he’d come to fix the radiator since he was so different to the other students. His career has eclipsed all of theirs by several many times.

I have to say I'm a fan of Spall's filum work. I saw the one of him recently where he lives on a canal boat, and captures the heart of a lady friend.
Also Mrs Lowry, and the one about Sweeny Todd. et al

Such greatness from a 1980's sit-com-type beginning. and with a Brummie accent to boot.

I just love some of these new channels that show old programmes. Apart from the picture quality they're a solid reminder of how good and well scripted they were.

Strange you never see Till Death Us Do Part though. I wonder what it is the BBC don't like about it? Well, we laughed in our house I can tell you.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

the terms & language used, id guess.
people would have a meltdown if that was aired today
(even though Warren Mitchell used to make it crystal that Alf was the butt of the joke)
