Its a bit unfortunate that we had Liverpool away after the Tottenham game. We went from playing a team who were probably in a slightly false position to one who are consistently top 4 and not in a false position.

I haven't seen anything of the game but the general consensus seems to be that we gave a good account of ourselves, certainly gave them a game and that they were flattered by the scoreline.

We probably all got over excited after the last match (understandably) and now we have come down to earth a bit.

Nothing to panic about, we aren't going to beat everyone - it is a work in progress and appears to be going in the right direction so overall I am still positive.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

This game showed us why Liverpool didn't spend much on players in transfer window they put it to other uses paying the people that matter

I don’t think Liverpool at Anfield have to pay anyone to get the decisions

Milner 6 fouls no booking, answers on a postcard

Milner said in an interview a couple of years ago that Wilf is the most difficult opponent he has come up against. He's previously been sent off for being unable to cope with him and he really was a lucky boy not to get at least one if not two yellow cards. One tackle he literally chopped our player down at the knee.

One thing I will say is that I thought Liverpool outmuscled us in midfield even if you ignore the fouls. That could be a worry when we play Dyche's pit workers and other more physical teams.

Get Hughes in

I agree. Normally, you'd expect us to be the team making cynical fouls on Liverpool, but we really didn't use any physicality the entire match.

Liverpool was the team making professional fouls all day, and we just took it. If the ref is going to allow those tactics, we need to play the same game.

The most positive I've felt after losing 3-0, Liverpool away, they will probably score atleast 3 goals in half their home games this season, scoreline still flattered them, can't wait for the Brighton game.

Not seen any highlights of today but from what I heard

Unlucky with the two efforts that hit the woodwork

Think it’s not fair to single out players like benteke and Jairo.
Eduardo had a decent chance before they scored their second apparently, so all in all we created at least 3 very good chances

Maybe Milovejic would have been a better sub to come on than Jairo as I see him as best at full back as cover

Liverpool very lucky today. The scoreline totally flatters them. The difference: taking their chances much better than we do.

Agree mate. Was surprised that Eduard never started, but Benteke won all the headers in both boxes from corners, if he could head the ball down he would get 15 goals a season, but he doesn’t, so he won’t. When Eduard came on he missed a couple, but with his runs , he looks like a real striker, I’d start him next game.
Think our keeper pulled off some great saves, I know people are saying he should catch the ball, but you don’t catch point blank saves, I’d rather see him push the ball out for a corner, rather than keep it in play.
Thought our 2 full backs done ok.
Anderson for me is absolute quality, a more complete footballer than most of the players in front of him.
The one we bought from chelsea, can’t spell his name, also very good.
Jimmy Mac has been quality. Gallagher, all action, I’d offer £30m for him in January and probably accept paying a bit more.
Ayew was a pain in Liverpool’s arse as was zaha.
Olise (probably spelt wrong , looks decent.
Jairo, I’d rather not see much of him anymore to be honest. If we need to bring on someone with a bit of pace , I’d rather schlupp (not sure if he was on the bench ) to sure things up , Hughes, then luka.
I’ve forgotten Kouyate , who does an unglamorous job, still not sure if he’s decent or not.
All in all, I like it now , like that the players all want the ball, like that we look comfortable in possession, like that the center backs (Anderson mainly ) wants the ball from the keeper and can ping a 60 yard cross field ball to feet.
Get eze, olise, Hughes, Eduard all involved , I think we will have an exciting season and bother every team below the top 4.
2nd favourites for relegation , oh please f*ck off.

At the end of the day we have to be over the moon at our start to the season. Everyone expected us to be bottom of the table and really struggling to gel the new team together.

Even our old players look like new players they are so much more comfortable on the ball. We were given an unbelievably tough run of fixtures to start off with so that coupled with our new squad we have got to be happy so far.

Agree. Luka must come in.
