Will someone explain why he seems to be first choice. I accept that the works hard but he produces nothing of any note. He has not scored since the old king died and I cannot recall an assist. Surely we have someone more constructive to come in.

He’s doing a commendable job for us playing not in his preferred position. Works hard. Wins fouls. Dribbles well.

Sure, Olise will probably take his spot in time. But he deserves more respect than he gets. Plus he’s always got goals like West Ham in his locker.

no he doesnt always have goals like west ham in his locker - otherwise he would have scored more than 1 goal in the last year.

he is utterly awful, and its actually really sad to see his name
on the team sheet…he is the reason we dont score many goals.

luckily enough we shouldnt see much of him once olise & eze are both fully fit.

And hopefully Rak-Sakyi on the bench for a few minutes

There's a lot more to a players game than goal stats - anyone who can't see what Ayew brings to the team is well and truly deserved of being in the position that they are in terms of managing the club - NOWHERE f***ING NEAR IT.

Now siddown, awroight?

Are you really saying Ayew's the only reason we don't score many goals. Sorry but that's a nonsense. I'm not saying Ayew should keep his place. I'm hoping Olise will be good enough (and strong enough) to take over soon. What I would like to see, though, is Ayew ahead of Benteke in the striker pecking order behind Edouard.

I was determined not to comment on this thread as the subject has already been debated to death elsewhere. But I'm at a loose end so...

Ayew is playing out of position
He doesn't ' hide ' - always wants the ball
Works his socks off

He's clearly going to find it difficult to get selected once Eze is fit again and Olise is up to speed.

In the meantime it's a pointless exercise having a pop at the guy.

PV trusts him to do a job and that's good enough for me although it appears there are people on here that think they know better....

Ayew has done well for us. He has scored some important / good goals during his time here. He runs his socks off and always seems fully committed. Whilst Gallagher scored the two goals, Ayew was absolutely outstanding at West Ham away only a few weeks ago and was a huge factor in our second half come back.

He may well fall behind Eze, Olise or Rak-Sakyi for selection in due course and I’m not going to get into criticising other players to justify his selection at the moment but Jordan does have far more to his game than I think he is given credit for.

Well he did score that goal against WH so I think he does have it in his locker.

And him being "awful" and the "reason we don't score many" is so ignorant and untrue. And really shows that you don't understand how the game is played.

Its clear to see that the guy is a good footballer, he's got great close control and is really good at transitioning the play. He's also showed the he can lead the line and score when played upfront. Unfortunately we haven't been blessed with a big squad so he's been asked to do a job on the wing for us. We can all see that its not his best position but he still gives it his all.

Also I'd like to think that the manager and coaching staff who watch him in training every week and pick him know a little more than you do.

I thought he was tremendous against West Ham the other week.
