Why wasn't Tosser booked for giving away the penalty? Then he would of been off for hauling down Zaha and got booked for it.

The conceded goal resulted from a cascade of miscues: Guaita kicking a short bullet to the center rather than a high floater to the side; no midfielder or forward running to cover it; our backs watching Maupay sprint past them; and Guaita getting caught in no-man's land (perhaps with a sore shoulder that prevented him from moving or jumping his best).

But maybe this will inspire us to play even harder and smarter for the next few matches.

Maybe bring Butland in would be a good idea. Not saying VG isn't a good goalie, but everybody needs a kick up the bum occasionally, and Butland isn't Hennesey, is more than capable as a replacement.

Another terrific performance tonight even with a sickening finish :-( Our forward pressing is great to watch. I hope we can continue as it won’t be easy doing this every match. Awful kick by Guaita did us in but Ayew should have sown it up. Terrible miss! Don’t think our subs tonight got up to speed when coming on. All 3 made us weaker with Benteke being the worst of them. Would have taken a draw before the match but 95th minute - Grrrr!

It really hurts but as so many have pointed out you could call it payback for what we did at their place last season..

We played very well. They were poor. As soon as they start playing some decent sides they will get put in their place.

Luka looked good first match back but please take him off corners and free kicks. They were s*** tonight.

Surely we can't keep playing Ayew right wing??.. Olise must start getting some game time in that position.

I'm sorry but Benteke was absolutely dreadful when he came on.. Looked totally disinterested and just jogged around with no urgency and his usual dreadful first touch. I would rather of seen Mateta because he couldn't of done any worse.

The Ayew miss was the key... You just knew they were gonna make us pay for that.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Not to sound like sour grapes but there were very few injuries in second half but he gives 5 mins. What was that all about.?
Whoever that was was a fuc#ing t%at.

I didn't clock it, but I thought the Alzate injury and substitution used a lot of time.

Just saw that myself and was rather mystified!

He did alright but nothing much more than that.

Man of the Match by my reckoning should have been Gallagher (again)

Not really the dominant issue right now.

Yes there was easily five minutes.

I'm pissed that Wilf won us a perfectly good throw in near the half way line, that we seemed to swap for a free kick in our own six yard box which we used to utterly bamboozle ourselves with.

So much effort wasted, and so needlessly done.

Positives for sure but those games need to be won.
