I don't have any problem with women's football, but, in the end it has to stand on its own two feet.

The BBC, in particular, has given much publicity and air time to the women's game, and this has certainly raised its profile. However, the question is, has there been a corresponding growth of interest in the game and in attendances?

If the answer is yes, then all well and good. Alternatively, if there has only been a marginal growth in interest then there really should be some revision in the amount of exposure it gets, and the level of coverage should equate to this.

This is a common sense appraisal.

So it has an absolutely zero chance of being applied.

Indeed.

Its not being run as a commercial proposition. More as a CSR project. Disproportionate airtime with no real corresponding enhancement in viewership.

I guess or me, regardless of whether its played or talked about in prim time slots, there needs to be the desire to seek it out. Streamed games, transfer gossip, forums etc. You cant manufacture a genuine interest.

I don't mind England women's rugby and England women's cricket but I can't be bothered with the football. It seems to be taking off at grassroots level, so will be big in the future, no doubt.

poor performance, being over-hyped as a fantastic win.

They got one thing right. Supporters were subjected to the terror associated with Roy-ball. One nil up or on the way to a no score draw, with seeming endless minutes still to play.

Think the England manager is aware of the technical limitations of English players so the result was important as players need confidence to perform

Having managed the Dutch team winners last time, should be interesting to see how they get on tonight

Mrs YT (flicking through the 'telly mag' at the weekend, marking what she'd like to watch this week): "YT, why is there so much women's football on the telly this week?"

Me (being ironic): "Oh, is there?"

Mrs YT: "Yes. it's on every flippin' evening on BBC 1. Why is that?"

Me (still being slightly ironic) "Could it be to do with those 'women's Euros' they keep going on about on the sport bulletins?"

Mrs YT: "Oh for God's sake; who on Earth is interested in that? Why does it have to be on BBC 1? Everyone has Freeview now, so they could put it on ANY channel. I'm sure people who want to watch it would find it."

Me: "As ever, I find it hard to argue with your logic, dear."

(And then we watched some tosh about people finding, through DNA testing, family that they never knew they had and with whom they will probably fall out once the camera crews have gone away. Well, Mrs YT watched it while I checked out the latest transfer fiction on HOL! )
