Mrs YT (flicking through the 'telly mag' at the weekend, marking what she'd like to watch this week): "YT, why is there so much women's football on the telly this week?"

Me (being ironic): "Oh, is there?"

Mrs YT: "Yes. it's on every flippin' evening on BBC 1. Why is that?"

Me (still being slightly ironic) "Could it be to do with those 'women's Euros' they keep going on about on the sport bulletins?"

Mrs YT: "Oh for God's sake; who on Earth is interested in that? Why does it have to be on BBC 1? Everyone has Freeview now, so they could put it on ANY channel. I'm sure people who want to watch it would find it."

Me: "As ever, I find it hard to argue with your logic, dear."

(And then we watched some tosh about people finding, through DNA testing, family that they never knew they had and with whom they will probably fall out once the camera crews have gone away. Well, Mrs YT watched it while I checked out the latest transfer fiction on HOL! )

I reckon you need to show her how to use the kettle and how to turn the tv on in the bedroom. Just saying

You've just let the cat out of the bag that you know Mrs YT has a TV in the bedroom

Will Mrs YT receive at Christmas a television for the kitchen - closer to the kettle?

I got a "why is sport always on?" the other day. I countered with because repeats of Friends, Naked Attraction and Love Island can only be on so often: they have to stop sometimes.

An unnervingly familiar narrative.

My missus just isn't into sport. Nor does she really do house work or cooking. Wondering why I'm with her - oh yes, she's still pretty good looking.
