I am loving what I am watching and honestly feel we will give somebody a good hiding soon. Superb to watch and full of enjoyment.

I feel, and have been for a while, like there's a bit of Pardew in the air here. Yes we're attacking, and yes we're scoring, but we're also conceding. A lot. We've had two clean sheets all season and only one win.

I’m disappointed we yet again didn’t get what we deserved today - but I am LOVING the way we play. Great to watch and on another day we’d have comfortably have won. I thought Benteke tried really hard today and played well - but we all know if we are missing a killer instinct in front of goal Benteke is not the answer. It’s a shame really as his overall contribution has been good. Edouard over Benteke every time for me - goal scoring striker trumps one that misses so many chances a game! Wow, incredible how you find fault with someone that smashed home two headed goals. Have you ever considered that the headed chances that hit the woodwork, he had no right to get to? Eduoard isn't getting to either of those.

Haha. Back to this again. Benteke played fantastic today. He scored our only goal and should've scored two. Are you really going to criticise him? Please. I'm getting sick of my OWN voice on this now. Perhaps I'll just let PV do the talking, who AGAIN stated how impressed hew as with CB.

It's a lot of 'could have's at the moment. Benteke could have scored three today. We could have won if it wasn't for that needless foul before his header. We could have held on against Brighton and Arsenal. If we had held on in those three games, we'd be fourth above Brighton. As it is, we're 15th but still as close to the Europa League as the relegation zone. I really think we need Eze back ASAP but, either way, there will come a point soon where we convert our chances and put 4/5 past someone. We've only won once but we've only been beaten twice, so let's not get too wound up.

He would have, it was a beast of a header, Benny towering above anyone else, but he will just have to take one goal today, saving the point, and one at the Arsenal, saving another point, well done Benny boy, keep it up! The defender was in front of Benteke and looking at the replay would most likely have intercepted the cross. It is wishful thinking to suggest Benny would’ve got anything like a clean header to the ball. I’ve stuck up for Benteke in the past but his conversion rate is poor. He did well for us last season but prior to that he had scored just 6 goals in 3 whole seasons for us (71 appearances!). He scored one but his shocking misses today cost us the win.

I've seen enough to play Olise over Ayew at this point. If we have a late lead, then I'm ok with Ayew coming on as a defensive sub due to his work rate. But Ayew creates nothing and can't score. I would like to see one game with Olise-Edouard-Zaha up front. Edouard is a better finisher than Benteke. Although PV has gotten more out of Benteke than Roy did, mostly because we actually cross the ball now.

I’m having to change view of Andersen and Guehi who, as a pair, lack strength in the air and leadership defending the penalty area. We’ve looked weak defending the first ball and non-existent on the second too many times now for it to be bad luck which leaves a number of question marks and may force us to play Benteke for the wrong reasons. The first thing a central defender needs to be is strong in the air and a good organiser. As good as the new players are with the ball at their feet I think our inability to defend the area is killing us and is serious worry for the remainder of the season.

It’s not the central defenders causing us to not win, it’s the balance in front of them. Too muck passing back from the midfield rather than going for a killer final ball. Gives opponents time to defend in numbers. Not sure that Eduoard out wide suits us or him as well. Still rather see us playing the way we are under Vieria than Hodgson. Just needs a few tweaks and that’s maybe in midfield where luka, MacArthur and Gallagher don’t get those killer final balls in as they knock it around to much. They aren’t the only culprits but that’s where we need someone like Eza perhaps pulling the strings?

He should have scored a hatrick but as you say he had 3 seasons with no service. His confidence must have been shot to bits. Form is temporary, class is permanent and he is a good striker. With more pressure, more chances he will start to convert a few more.

I couldn’t make it today so I watched it on stream. Got to say both sets of fans were immense. Commentators commented on the noisy the whole way through.

I reckon Benteke is a gentle giant. Having PV around him maybe gives him that extra oomphh. I reckon the team at Arsenal was mor balanced. Really rate Olise but looks to me like he does more damage coming on after 55 minutes. Plus Newcastle we’re set up in a very defensive pattern.
