I was getting worried in the 2nd half. It looked like City changed tactics and let us have more of the ball, drew us forward, then hit us on counterattacks. And it looked like it was working. They had a few 3 on 3 and 2 on 2 breaks against us that looked very dangerous.

Thank god their goal was offside, and then we got the 2nd goal.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Great result. City were terrible today but we really capitalised. Finally a bit of luck with the tight offside City goal. I have a £20 bet with a mate that Gallagher will get a England cap before the end of the season and it’s looker odds on now.

Please can we now permanently drop Luka and Ayew. Kouyate and Olise are clear improvements. Olise is an assist machine. Already has 2. Should have had 3 last weekend. Special player!

Horses for courses. Kouyate is a good option for games like this where it’s basically run around like a mad man pressing and being a nuisance. But Luka is a better player in almost every other way than Kouyate.

Agree about Olise though.

If just a choice between these two, Kouyate over Luka everytime for me. Kouyate brings alot more energy and is better defending crosses/corners into our box.
Luka used to have the better passing/dead ball ability but now rarely shows these qualities and my biggest concern is the needless freekicks given away by him around our box. Great pressing and tackling yesterday without the need for unnecessary fouls.

COYP!

As I said earlier in this thread - look at Macarthur, last season he could barely last 90 mins, now he's playing for that time and at twice the pace!

Whatever has changed on the training ground, they all seem faster, fitter and have more staying power - some of them seem positively rejuvenated (Ward?)

Agreed and (touch wood) no silly injuries picked up in training

Stunning result and we at last had a bit of luck. We did what Brighton couldn’t and got the result our play deserved. Couldn’t get to Madchester yesterday but really pleased for the travelling faithful to witness another win.

Only team to score at City this season, how good does that sound?

I would like to congratulate the entire team for a terrific performance. You were all absolutely outstanding. Big shout out to Vieira though, what he has done in such a short space of time is nothing short of miraculous, the games are so exciting to look forward to now.

Ayew did a job for an hour. Olise did a better job in 30 mins. Same as every game this season.

I was at the game. Ayew worked his socks off tracking back to help Ward. Yes he sliced his chance in the second half but his work rate during the first hour enabled Olises fresh legs to make the most of the space on the break late on. We have a squad of players and PV will use them when appropriate. I applaud him.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I had a look at a Man City fan forum (pure schadenfreude after a win) and it’s safe to say we’re happier with our team than they are with theirs. Obviously a different level of expectation but they're nearly as fed up as Tottenham fans.

Excellent team selection by PV.

Excellent game plan by PV, executed brilliantly by the players.

Effective use of the substitutes.

Had that bit of luck you need against the top sides.

All good.

I agree with becky about McArthur. He's always been a solid performer, but he now seems rejuvenated. I hope he retains the Captain's armband. Much prefer to see him than Luka.

Ward also needs a mention. Another 'old boy' who's been a saviour on many an occasion this season so far. To think how many on here have been quick to criticize him in the past.

In addition to Glad All Over, I'll be playing this on the old jukebox a lot today too.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Yes, thank God that we scored more goals than they scored, which is the essence of winning a football match.
