Of all the proposed candidates for the job I think I was most in favour of Lampard.

I will also hold up my hands and say I was worried about life under anyone but Roy.

Yes, the football was mostly dire but he kept us up and didn't spend much money which partly enabled the rebuild of this season (that and John Textor).

As soon as PV was appointed he was our manager and I wanted nothing more than to see him succeed.

Its fair to say he has exceeded all my hopes and our football is a total joy to watch.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Pretty much The same here, Foxy.
didn't want Dyche, Howe or NES - I was relived when he pulled out. Though was quite dissapointed not to get Favre.

PV, an unknown, probably similar to Lamps in that he was newish to management and had a bit to prove - but I can't say I was excited at the prospect. I was of the view that he was much more likely to fail than succeed.

But what a start to his time here. Noone could have anticipated this. The summers recruitment, even with hindsight was nigh on Perfect.
The whole club deserve all the credit for doing something so right after years of what felt like incompetence and negligence of playing duties at times. They(the mgmt) have all been fully vindicated in my eyes.

says a lot about the men themselves - Lampard by all accounts didn't fancy it, and that is an obvious lack of confidence in his ability to build something from where we were. Whereas PV saw the opportunity and thought he could make something of it.

It's certainly telling that where both PV and Favre came away saying that they were impressed with the ambition and direction of the club, it was only PV that took up the challenge.

I think it was fair that people had doubts as Viera's managerial CV was mixed.

I was wrong about recruitment and whether we had signed enough new / quality players although Edouard's signing and start ended most of those concerns.
