This I agree with – it is out there if you dig about but as I posted much much earlier, the objectivity in all this is being lost and that is a problem. However I also stated even if his character is in question it's no excuse for being continually subject to racist abuse, assuming most of what he's stating is true.

This is why I raised the subject of money and what is his real reason for doing this. You would hope it is for the personal satisfaction of having all and sundry apologise to him for anything untoward that happened, but you do wonder if something else is anticipated.

In short, racist abuse wrong, getting paid substantial compensation for whatever happened, also wrong.

Unfortunately the OTT way you present your views takes perfectly valid stances (such as wanting to stop mass immigration or forge a workable approach to illegals) and creates an extra hurdle for sensible people are thought to traverse because we all get lumped in with your lazy, catch-all dislike of entire groups of people.

Surely absolutely anyone could be a 'potential terrorist'? But of course, the vast majority of terrorists over the last twenty years or so have indeed been muslims, who say that they are carrying out their acts as a duty to their religion.

Even then isn't it pointless to overly differentiate... people could say 'oh black people are better at the 100m' then of course we could say what about cycling sprints? what about swimming sprint events? And then does that comes down to genetics, environment, role models? Does it even matter? Who needs to fixate on these differences to begin with in a world that is increasingly intertwined to the extent that plenty of people you can point at don't tick easy, contrived racial boxes to begin with..

And beyond that we don't get to control our family members. Some here are so frantically obsessed with their own race that they would quite clearly be absolutely devastated if their kids procreated with someone of a different race. Whichever way you slice it, such an outlook is at best weird, and at worst a perversion of the inherent value that should be attributed to all people.

Yes it does come down to genetics.

Superiority is a deliberately politically charged and emotive way of looking at it.....but to be fair he wasn't the one who introduced that into the conversation.

As for wanting your descendants to remain European or African or whatever it is. I disagree with you that this is in anyway a terrible desire.....though I'd agree that no one should decide these things for others.

all bullying is wrong. Especially when aimed at somebody's identity.

Rafiq is pakistani ? Is there a problem in his country with the bullying of....

Hindu's, Christians, Atheists, Gays, Lesbians, apostates, etc.

sure, all prejudice is wrong. Agreed. And it seems to be ubiquitous and timeless.

Just giving an example of a reply I would expect from our right of right posters if it was Ian Botham or someone, or the obvious"he was only joking!"

I suspect it didn't stop you voting Corbyn did it Croydon?

Yeah, Corbyn wasn't too keen on Israel without a doubt....then again even not fancying long noses is considered anti semitism nowadays.

However seems Rafiq is a huge hypocrite.....SW19 was on the money.

I'd like to say I'm shocked over Rafiq but it's hard to be shocked about anything these days.

There are nature and nurture elements to everything including the example given. As I stated ideas like black people being better sprinters in general may have some truth to it, but as with the nuance of everything in life there are a vast number of fast twitch sprint events that other races generally place first in. So even within something apparently cut and dry there are other aspects to it. It's pointless attempting to deduce who is likely to be better at what racially, because if anything it's only likely to convince people that there are limits in this direction or that in ways that don't even pertain to their individual strengths or weaknesses.

But yes, I'd 100% agree that people are capable of making their own decisions on partner, whatever their reasoning may be regardless of what anyone else thinks about it.

I was fascinated by the 'nature/nurture' debate back when I entered teaching. I spent about six months dipping into it.

I came away pretty certain from the statistics that it was roughly somewhere around 75/25 genetics to nurture.....certainly for intelligence inheritance....though a minority think more 50/50.......with the finding that the mother's intelligence level seems slightly more important.

It's quite disappointing in its way as being a teacher you'd rather hope it was the other way around....nurture to nature...but I suppose it makes sense when thought about.

I suspect that for physical abilities like speed or strength, height, natural abilities that it's even wider than 75/25

I hasten to add that having the ability to do something is in no way a guarantee that someone will or end up succeeding....luck good or bad plays a large hand in life and nurture certainly matters...just in some matters more than others.

Still, considering the reality it's kind of a crime that there are those out there who think they can study their way to Einstein level, because unfortunately it isn't true for most.....same as most people couldn't have broken 11 seconds sprinting the 100 metres regardless of how hard or dedicated they might have been.

I suppose because the reality isn't particularly nice sounding the realities around genetics are not particularly advertised......Ok, but the suggestion that people are 'blank slates' was very damaging in education and indeed in many ways it continues to damage those with low academic ability even today.

That said, obviously people should always try their best to reach their potential at any given ability.
Though similarly how lazy or feckless someone is unfortunately also appears to have an inheritance element to it.

Cake and eat it springs to mind!
If there is any other stuff out there he will lose a lot of sympathy ever so quickly!

Two people whose latest actions today have somewhat diminished their moral authority:
One is a Prime Minister and the other a former Yorkshire cricketer.
