I mean- we could have the hol as just a right wing CONservative site, with no opposing views, where you could all forelock tap and get off on how well the country is being run- but wheres the fun in that?If a rant is criticism of the CONS, then its justified, unless you agree with how the CONS are doing- but tough shyte!

I think the irritation is that you don't ever seem to do anything else other than whine about how much of a victim you are or rant in poor English about CON this or CON that.

Bump or chump?

Bank of England attacks government’s economic failure ahead of ‘austerity budget’.

No growth or investment today and in 5 years the national debt will have increased.

All pain and no gain, whether the 'black hole' even existed is highly debatable.

The ability of the British voter to be 'had' continues unabated.

It's not going to be a funfare ride that's for sure.

Maybe it'll be kind of like going back to the seventies....except with crap music.

'Pound tumbles amid market fears for UK economy and impact of austerity budget'.

Well, well.

Well, I'll rate your conclusion along with the rest of your predictions since you joined this site.

Hang on, let's check in on a couple. Let's see what Mitt Romney's doing?.....Nope, still not Republican leader...strange, I'm sure I remember someone predicting that.

How about Trump being in jail over Russiagate?....I'll have another look....Oh no, just given a speech in front of a packed crowd....strange, no handcuffs on him.

Mmmmm.
.
Something tells me that if you did gamble, that the bookies would quite enjoy your visits.

Did I predict Romney as the leader, or simply express a preference? It’s a long time ago and, as I frequently have said, nothing stays cast in stone. Events change things.

Again I have frequently said that we need to be patient over Trump. He uses every possible delaying tactic known to man to avoid being held accountable. It’s been suggested that his new run may really be to stymie legal proceedings, although I don’t see how myself.

The net will close on him eventually though. Even if it takes an Al Capone move to skewer him.

Well, well.

The Pound has moved within a 1% range vs USD past 24 hours

Is that a tumble?

Have another 87 beers

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Labour don't seem to have much in the way of credible finance policies but one must admit they are rather good at sound bites.

It was fairly obvious that Ranting Rachel's speech was written before she knew what was in the budget as it was pretty heavy on sound bites but very light on alternative policy ideas.

This is a good summary.

The next few years will be difficult everywhere including the UK.

For me a simple action would be to cancel HS2 now before we throw even more money at it. Look at improving local bus services in the North and Midlands first.

Now is not the time to continue an out of control white elephant.

The amount spent on HS2 to date is roughly the same as ONE YEAR of housing the " asylum seekers " and " victims of trafficking "

That’s a shame. I always thought he was surprisingly polite and forbearing. And so the old place returns to being an echo chamber for a while, having finally succeeded in tissue rejection of an independent voice. Yet again.

I never wanted CP to be banned and my last few posts to him were, trying to get him to calm down a bit. Can’t agree with your analysis, as CP was getting rude to people and he was hardly an independent voice! I did get irritated with his stance on certain issues, especially the migrant crisis, which I have first hand knowledge of but at least he was consistent.
In a strange way I will miss him but presumably there is adequate grounds for a ban

You have been warned,as in their pea brain mentality, they seem unable to see the global picture.

As said elsewhere such certainty is out of date. Sure they will bugger it up. However the sooner the Tories dump right wing populism for pragmatic centrist policies the sooner they recover their reputation for safe economic hands.

An unforeseen consequence of Brexit.

Agreed. Excepting that it was foreseen. That the populist driven Brexit of the right wing of the Tories would ultimately ruin their reputation was always on the cards. The pandemic and the Ukraine war has just advanced it's arrival.

No UK political party can hope to remain in power for long unless they occupy the centre and adopt a flexible pragmatic approach. That this disappoints ideologues from both the left and the right doesn't make it any less true than it's ever been.
