In the scheme of things this is hardly a big deal. Candidates have lists of party supporters if the press are around whose door to you think they knock on. Party supporters know not to give the game away usually.

What happens when Sir Keir goes to an NHS hospital to meet nurses, do you seriously think he gets a rando group or does he luckily bump into a group of staff gathered by the local union convenor?

They all do it this guy just got caught.

PS
There is another trick they play on the opposition. Let's say a Tory candidate knocks on the door of a a Labour supporter and hasn't twigged it. Does the householder say:

a) F off you Tory scum blah blah or
b) You know I am undecided but I really like some of your party's policies why not come in and have a cup a tea and tell me more.

If your wondering B is the correct answer, why because you are wasting the candidates time stopping him seeing other voters.

Of course they all do it, it just shows an exceptional level of stupidity to get so obviously caught.

Yep, I think we can file this under, 'it's ok when they do it'.

However, I think we can say it's the spin doctoring part of politics that's underhand and that most of us view with contempt.

But politicians will always do what works for them and manipulating the public is their bread and butter. As is the case with so many industries and professions.

Another imaginary point made by no one.

It does amuse me the conservative voters on here trying to claim some sort of moral high ground when it comes to double standards - imagine that was a Labour MP in the video... you'd have a 25 page thread on here by now.

How, people must be thinking, does Raab continue to hold down a very senior post, when if it was anybody else they would be at least suspended, and in most of our cases, sacked.

Sunak cannot be envied dealing with the endless slide of tory corruption and sleaze.

But you do have to be tough, he is not up to it and his party feels he is another dud.

A new direction is best for the country.

In an employment situation, a bullying claim such as this would be investigated much more quickly. In the meanwhile, given the nature of the claim and the absolutely incredible number of people making it, a company would have no choice other than to suspend the individual and keep them right away from the work place during the investigation. Otherwise it runs the risk of further (alleged) bullying and a real chance of mental or physical damage to its employees. How many employers would let him continue to work? Absolutely none, zero, ninguno, keiner, rien.

I don't understand your point - what attitude, and why would that be reflective of anything to do with Labour?

Labour are not actually liked anywhere, mainly cos they're not very good.

I would call it the condescending and sneering attitude of a good percent of the mainstream left.

Those who are committed to the left for ideological reasons.....which left or right isn't actually why the majority of people vote how they do....that reason being tribal.

We agree, neither of the mainstream parties serve their demographics that well.....and that is of course deliberate.

Well, I made the point!

Also, it's hardly a rare occurrence obviously you don't go looking for criticism of the left but I can tell you that this observation isn't rare.

I'm glad you're amused and yes double standards aren't exclusive to the left....people are people.

However, when it comes to the claiming of a 'moral high ground' the left take the giddy limit. So when they are observed enacting double standards it brings that self reflective blindness into sharper relief.

What policies are Labour proposing that could be considered 'low level communism/socialism'? Do you think Kier Starmer is a socialist?

There are so many factors, figures etc. to demonstrate quite how bad this government have been, and many of them are posted on this thread - you just chose to ignore them all, stick your fingers in your ears, and continue parroting decade-old clichés.

Anyone who still thinks the conservatives can claim to be the economically responsible ones is living in fantasy land and not interested in objective reality.

socialism and effects go hand in hand with all labour parties.
Everywhere around the world it is proven. The policies happen after the event to suit this.
Let’s do the £4 billion to the nhs last year. Where did that get used.
As for the economy the whole world is in a down turn in some way shape or form.

The truth is that everywhere around the world, so many governments who have tried to be anywhere near socialist have been targeted, undermined and affected by the US, the arch-capitalist superpower, that aims to keep such doctrine away from the god profit (at all costs) and acts accordingly.

As Maggie said, “socialism is ok until you run out of other peoples money.”
Basically socialism is all about the money as well because without it we are all fecked.
The difference isn’t the money, the difference is the envy and jealousy of people who have it. And invariably work hard for it.

No it isn't. You just can't understand that there are many people who simply are not jealous at all.

The difference is how money is divided. Many wish to live in a quasi-Darwinist 'dog eat dog' world but we are not brute animals; we are capable of so much more than that.

There's a spiritual element to it, imo. I dream of living in a world where we help and share with our fellow creatures, not grind them into the dirt so that we may acquire more wealth, material goods and so-called status.

Not for me.

The 45m murdered by Mao's regime would be thrilled.
Life in Eastern Europe looked a right laugh for decades. To repeat: they had to build a wall to keep people out.

That's a myth.....It's the John Lennon 'imagine' view of humanity. I think it's caused far more harm to people than many wish to recognise.

You can be this person you envision yourself and give your time and money to causes that you feel benefit others. There is nothing wrong with that.

However, the moment you start expecting others to want the same thing you do then you aren't helping and 'sharing with our fellow creatures' but instead you are insisting they have the same beliefs you do.

Many people won't agree with what you thinks is best for humanity.

No, not insisting. Hoping that people would wish for the same as me. In fact, I expect that many in the world will continue acting and believing exactly as we have been doing. That doesn't mean I give up hope, though.

I know that many hard-bitten souls, such as yourself, also imagine that it's always been about looking after number one, so get them before they get you, always will be. Am I wrong to say this of you?

Just because it has been like that forever, doesn't mean we all have to join the hunt.
