Is there anything that is not the fault of the wicked Tories? I suppose Palace's inability to score very often is the fault of the Tories? presumably the floodgates will open when Comrade Starmer is at the helm? Will we have to drop the Palace part of our name as it is no doubt offensive to you?

Was it not , then?
I don't see, given the circumstances, how anyone else was responsible.

Well yes, the wicked Tories of course, plus Brexit and institutional racism and trans-phobia - oh and people silently praying.

I wouldn't disagree with you on that, of course, but why has the difference between Marxism, communism and socialism become so blurred?

If you think I'm espousing mass murderers (mostly of their own people) in the name of communism, you're very mistaken.

If you ask me to agree with the exploitation of the poor and weak in our society, again, you'd be mistaken.

What I would say is that there are relatively few that control the riches and resources of our society and I think that if they profit from trading in a country, then they should be expected to support that country.

Trickle down? Now that's a myth.

I want to live in a country where, for instance, even if I've never clapped eyes on you or your family, I would willingly give money from my earnings to a third party (government) who would make sure that your child has a good and free education and where you would wish to do the same for me.

Why? Because that's the world I'd like to live in. That's not a myth, that's do-able. Unless, of course, you're a look-after- number-one sort. 'No such thing as society. Only the individual and the family'.

That's not the kind of world I want to live in, mate.

I don't see how that means I'm advocating the slaughter of millions.

Well put

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

What caused it to happen is that, as usual, the service was hit by staff cuts and underfunding, causing the operatives to have caseloads that were too many to cope with, staff overworked and stressed out, unachievable targets... this is what causes mistakes in the service which had consequently become not fit for purpose.

So yes, the workers saw the person released when they shouldn't have been but it is through governmental decisions that this happened. So the government becomes culpable.

So, so wrong to call out the public service workers themselves.

The service(s) become not fit for purpose through governmental decisions. Many public workers workers work their socks off with a background as described above.

All in the name of 'efficiency'. Lol

Hmmm - I don't 100% agree with that.
I do not dispute that cuts in money and staff - or maybe the inability to attract staff - will not help matters but as in many parts of the public sector, there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
I still feel that on the whole that the public sector is bloated by maybe 20% but that the bloat is at the top and not at the sharp end.
I am told that the split between clinical and managerial staff in the NHS is 50/50 now - that is just dreadful.
I would expect it to be 70/30 in clinical staff's favour.
Who is brave enough to deal with this stuff is the problem.

I suspect that Public Services are still way behind in consolidating their back office. Back in the late nineties my job was to help big companies do this.

One deal I worked on involved a major IT company they had admin offices in 17 countries across Europe. We consolidated that into one office based in Brussels. At the time we were told it wouldn't work because you are dealing with 17 legal jurisdictions and 14 different languages well it did work.

In this country we have one legal system and one language far easier to deal with. So I guess the question is this how many NHS Trusts co-operate and pool their admin resources?

Local councils are ripe for this stuff the vast majority of admin is pure vanilla you only need a handful of staff to meet the public face to face the rest could be anywhere.

As for WFH if you don't need to travel then your job could be done from India.
