Back on topic I see the Tories are getting as much stick from the Tory rags as the left of centre ones over the budget. The thing is I have yet to hear a sensible alternative.

Labour still have offered noting except not Tory, lots of sound bites but no detail, wonder what they would have done if Truss triggered a general election.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Just about everybody can b!tch and moan however that does not qualify you to run the country. There is a poster on here who reminds me of that. If you spend your entire time just criticising others it only comes across as such. It does not paint you in a positive light nor does it elevate you in any way as an alternative thinker or therefore provider of solutions. I like to sway between being slightly left to slightly right of centre on many things. Quite frankly I would happily change my vote, were I to give it, to endorse whomever I believe offered up the best possible direction of travel. As things stand, for me, there is no lesser of two evils even, just a choice of one or t'other and often it's sadly better the devil you know. We are ruled through a system of default. A two-party process that requires the abject failure or demise of one to see the elevation of the other. C'est ridicule!

As has been said labour are just constantly trashing the tories but offering no credible alternatives. They haven't even welcomed the inflation size increase in benefit and pension payments. Or the additional energy payments on the way. Or the near inflation increase in the minimum wage. No mention of the £25K reduction in the 45p tax threshold. Which will cost those in that band £1250. The freezing of the thresholds for another year is better than has been done previously where they were reduced. They were increased more than inflation after that and once we come out of the recession I would expect that to be the case again. Or the increase in tax on the petrol companies or the temp 45p windfall tax on the producers. This is the exact opposite of what Truss wanted to do and had she remained in power I would have sat on my hands at the next election. This is the kind of tory government I want. A caring but financially aware budget. They have a chance at the next election now.
