Six in 10 say UK not being run competently or with integrity, says poll.

You mean there are four in 10 that do?

Well known for competence and integrity that lot.

This also means that for Astrazeneca they see no difference in workforce skills available in Ireland compared to UK.IF the differentiator is less tax then only one winner.

They may regret the decision. Back in the late 1990/s I helped move my bank's back office from London to Dublin this was tied into the EU tax break the Irish got.

At first it was great the Irish are a well educated hard working people the problem is that there are not enough of them so as soon as other companies piled in good workers were hard to find.

When you look at the population footprint for London / SE and compare it to the Dublin area the difference is huge.

It will be interesting to see if AZ can recruit and retain staff my bank couldn't and so I was tasked with moving it to India. by sheer coincidence this coincided with the ending of the tax break for my company

I don't think the UK is being run competently or with integrity, with some exceptions. This is a result of decades of allowing the Govt of the day to spend our money without control.

Whether it's wasting money on vanity projects or Angela Rayner's collection of Apple products, we have allowed a system to become entrenched that is probably impossible to change now.

So I would agree that the UK is run with a lack of competence and integrity but would argue this has been so for decades.

Churchill and Bevan were probably the last two PM's to exhibit these qualities even if you disagreed with their policies.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

The pigs have had their snouts in our troughs for decades. As a career civil servant I was astonished to see for myself the extent of some irregular practice involving public money very early on. Also, I recall my old boss attempting to tackle it and taking on a well established 'old pals' network. I hasten to add there were some excellent and supportive Ministers of high integrity then who are still around now but no longer in politics.

LOL

Mine was one of the job that got cut.

When we informed the staff that some of the jobs were going they were understandably upset and had a right go at me. It wasn't my decision but I had to take the flack.

What I really wanted to say to them (but couldn't) was some of you may lose your job but there is only one person in the room who definitely is losing theirs and that was me of course.

It was a tough gig having to listen to people complain and try and remain professional and do my job. A fellow manager in the same position as me didn't mince words he told his staff that the senior management were a bunch of ..... not very professional.

Anyway the bank milked the tax break for 10 years by then I was back in Dublin with the company as a consultant when they announced the jobs were going to India. Cue outrage from the Paddy's I just laughed what goes around comes around.

Who put a border in the Irish sea in the first place? Johnson.

He is a worm and he will be on Sunaks back after any deal, he is looking to get back in charge by any means fair and most likely, foul.

Really its not much sorting a red/green lane.

But the fall-out that's another matter.

What do the people of NI want? Any guess.

What has caused the problem in the first place - the inflexibility and unreasonableness of the undemocratic, racketeering EU.
