Harsh but amusing and perceptive.

Lennon and McCartney are that rare instance where the egos matched the achievements.

It’s pretty much inconceivable that anyone could reach their level again, partly due to the diffuse ways people hear music now but also because of their talent and the contributions of George Martin and Geoff Emerick.

Very true. An inevitability to that, mostly commercially and also due to the influence of the bands that came before. It's always interesting to find bands that have clearly been influenced by the likes of the Beatles (and often do not even themselves realise that!)

The Beatles were fortunate that their moment arrived as TV was at it's viewing peak with only a few channels here and in the US. That and the fact that they were able to tour the US. Credit to Brian Epstein he fanned the flames and took advantage of the mania as any good manager would.

They were of their time but they also created "that time".

That's true, and who can forget the influence and effortless cool at the time that was attached to the 'rat pack'.

Yes, with the Beatles it was definitely right place, right time, and I suppose in a parallel universe somewhere there are others standing in their place. I'm pleased that in ours that moment in time was at least filled by immense and timeless talent.

Rock & Pop died in the early 1990s.

Everything since then has been an embarrassment of corporate shame.

I think it died with Live Aid. Creativity and innovation fell off a cliff thereafter.

As far as the Beatles doc goes, probably interesting but not worth subscribing to Disney+ for.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

And a combination of auto tune and Cowellisation rounded out the process.
As you say it’s not worth a subscription on its own but will probably be available elsewhere in due course.
