If we had voted Remain then I would have been urging us to join the Euro and fully embrace the entire project. Because what was the point of us being in the EU otherwise? One of the reasons I was so in favour of the referendum was that our position of only having one foot in made less and less sense. We either had to be on the out or inside fully.

The issue had to be settled. And it was. But a vote for Remain had to mean we truly embraced the entire EU project.

Oh for sure, they even named it Lexit at one point, as in the left wing case for Brexit.

I just mean the remain campaign spent so little time on the benefits of membership and the positive cases for remain and focused all their efforts on big scary predictions if we were to leave.

So what caused the change between Europe being the Tory-Pro, Labour-anti situation which had existed for decades?

Freedom of movement. The entire 'Anti Racist' hysteria/notion became so embedded in the Lefts collective identity that a desire to leave the EU became synonymous with being anti-migrant hence why the EU could only be a good thing. Throw in a weakening Trade Union movement, which had always been largely in favour of the 'British jobs for British workers' trope, and you had a Left that was able to go off on an almost onanistic at times feeding frenzy that morphed into near hysteria, elevating the EU to this paragon of virtue, at least on this particular issue, which dwarfed all the others.

In many ways, Lexit made far more sense than the Tories championing our departure from the EU and a majority of Tory MP's were essentially Remain all the time, helped in great measure by the level of lobbying/corruption they were open to from big business who hate Brexit with a passion.

Let's just dispose of the blah blah and get to the crux of the ssue.
We have a rapidly increasing number of immigrants and their offspring in this country, and they are now influencing our culture, politics and institutions with the help of sycophantic stupid White leftists who are driven by guilt and misguided ideology.
The result of this is that we are now being held to ransom by a small proportion of the population who wish to destabilize and divide while at the same time seeking power and influence for themselves.
This manifests itself in many ways, and one of them is individuals and corporations being driven to uphold wokeness to protect their reputations and profits.
In education, we have the usual leftist tutors and teachers spreading pseudo intellectual nonsense like critical race theory and trying to undermine White historical figures and history.

There needs to be some pushback and now. I'm tired of hearing self appointed speakers for minorities telling us that they are underrepresented when the opposite is clearly true in many instances.

Blunt but true and ultimately prophetic of the country which has changed beyond recognition from the one I was born into.
