Jay Rich-Baghuelou, a big centre half who likes to play out from the back. Hopefully an Anderson on steroids.

He was in the Aussie Olympic squad and, if I remember correctly, their U23 squad.

Exactly!! Let’s be honest, apart from the occasional gem we uncover I.e zaha, wan bissaka and Mitchell, most of our so called highly rated youngsters will end up where they usually do, playing in the lower leagues or non-league because they’re simply not good enough. Obviously now the academy has gone up a level, we’ll be hoping for a more regular supply of youngsters good enough for the top flight

Ferguson - signed as an 19 year old after a few West Brom games. Him and Olise seem to have overtaken the entirety of the home grown academy players.

Nobody knows until they get a chance AWB and Mitchell only got their chances through injuries not outstanding U23 performances

What you appear to be suggesting is putting our U23 players into the First Team just for the sake of it.

Which if that is the case is ludicrous.

Personally I think that currently we have more than enough strength in depth with our senior players which in turn means that the youngsters really do have to be pulling up trees in u18/23 level to get a sniff.

This is exactly as it should be. The club has invested heavily and will want players to get through, or have a resale value that covers the costs when selling to other clubs. We will also now start taking some of the best young talent from around the UK & Europe.

If they are good enough they will get through and if not we will sell them on or release them.

Gallagher seemed to do better with local loans ; they're was not a huge amount of positivity about him coming to us this season after his season with the baggies

Some of it has to do with nurture and how much the club believes in youth player promotion. Gallagher was on Chelsea's bench for a European final. AWB was on his way to Coventry - Richard Shaw has connections with them

I don't see how locality has anything to do with it. Gallagher had a successful loan at Swansea. As for the positivity about him coming to us, where do you get that from ?

Chelsea have a conveyor belt of youngsters which is used to either bring the best through to their first team squad or sold on for a decent fee. You need the resources in place to make that work, we were nowhere near that in AWB's days.

Schlupp's not going to Afcon, he wasn't picked in Ghana's squad.

For a reason. Ferguson was doing the business in the Championship and Olise was young player of the year in the Championship last year. The few players from our Academy who have gone out on loan to lower league clubs (Leagues 1 & 2 and National League) have failed to nail down a regular place at those clubs. Even Banks (one of the best of them) wasn't a regular starter in the Scottish Championship.

As I said in my earlier post, the Papa Johns trophy showed us what level our youngsters are at, and it's not close to Championship level never mind Premier League.

Nobody knows for certain but that is the point of good coaches to use their judgement and experience to make the best decisions for the players development. Nobody knows that if I was to offer out Tyson Fury I wouldn't win but I'm going to use my judgement and not start on him.
I've linked previously to how well respected AWB was he got his chance because of injuries but he would have got his chance at some point anyway , probably coming on a late sub for Ward in meanlingless end of season games. That is the path Tyrick went down coming on for PVA when we were already safe. Both had regularly trained with the first team both had been on pre-season tours. If we are safe by mid Feb then we might then that is what we might see with Rak-Sakyi.
Beating Norwich yesterday makes that more likely that Rak-Sakyi will get oppotunities. Chucking players in before they were ready isn't going to help their development, look at Lokilo and Lumeka for that.
