Bulls***.

The last five years. Chelsea, Valencia (loan), Palace (loan). None wanted to keep him or sign him. Don't you think there just might be a reason for this?

Quality international player? He's scored 22 goals in 38 games for Belgium. Impressive, eh? Until you look at who he's scored them against:

Cyprus
Hungary
Czech Republic
Bosnia
Saudia Arabia
Costa Rica
Tunisia
Scotland
San Marino
Khazakstan
Iceland
Ivory Coast
Switzerland
Belarus

And one lonely, solitary goal against decent opposition (Italy, in a friendly). A Championship forward if ever I saw one.

He's ripping up trees in Turkey. So did Cenk Tosun. So did Alexander Sorloth. Both quality international forwards, eh?

Are you selling any of whatever it is you're using at the moment?

I don't want him back, but to be fair you look at the dross Kane and Rooney scored most their goals against and it's much the same frankly, equally it could be argued Switzerland and the Czech's are no mugs... maybe even Scotland too.... Maybe.

Batsman has been pretty much a Belgian regular since 2015 and played in the last fixture, he has 8 international goals.

He scored for us with Zaha and Loftus Cheek 4-1 against Leicester, one of our best performances, RH was only defensive because it was necessary.

Bournemouth 5-3 was another with him scoring twice after Zaha and AWB linking up.

He is out on loan notched up 8 goals in Belgium.

RH speaks very highly of Bats, just could not fit him in.

Loftus-Cheek wasn't even with us during that part of the season. The midfielders that day were Jimmy Mac, Luka and Schlupp with Zaha and Townsend up top with Batshuayi. The other scorer was Luka from the spot BTW.

Sunday morning under-9s have got a better idea about how to stay onside than Bats. Nor for me.

But that's exactly the point. What you do in international football, where around 80% of the games you play are against "weak" nations, records mean very, very little. I mean, Ian Wright could probably dine out for years on the back of scoring four goals in an international match...against San Marino. If you're got an impressive scoring record in the last eight and afterwards in major tournaments, count me impressed. If you've just bagged loads of goals against countries ranging from average to downright poor, who cares? In any international year you'll play far more schmuck teams than you ever will in Premier League. Basically, international football (until the knock-out stages of major tournaments) is festival for flat-track bullies. So signing a player based on his international record makes very little sense unless you think knocking them in against Belarus, Costa Rica, San Marino, and Saudia Arabia is good preparation for the Premier League. I don't think it's even close.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Loftus Cheek wasnt available to play against Leicester, he was injured and back with Chelsea as he loan finished the season before. So how did he score?

I'd prefer Loftus-Cheek and even Campana ahead of Bats...

I was never really having Loftus cheek either. He was involved in a couple of lovely Palace goals and a highlight reel of him, with us would have looked great. But watching him every week , I thought he was great in a few patches, but overall , no better than alright
Not a patch on Gallagher.
