I've always said, if we improve each season by even one point, I am happy... that's steady progress.

My goal for this season is just to stay up and that would be great achievement taking in to consideration all the changes that the team have undertaken with a new fledgling PL Manager at the helm!

A learned gentleman who has proved to be quite accurate about our final standing in recent seasons, mentioned to me that in his opinion we will finish just above the 'Line' and if this is proved to be correct I do sense there will be a sense of disappointment amongst our supporters who I believe in the main have been expecting a more positive outcome. I would be more than happy with just above the ''line''. Realism is something to be enjoyed!

I do beg your pardon Willo old chap, I have no desire to cast doubt on your encyclopaedic knowledge, but I do believe we ended last season with 43 points. However, I agree that, regardless of the number of points we collect, remaining in the PL is our priority, especially if we continue to play the style of football we have been seeing so far this season.

Let's hope we have better 2nd half of the season than last. 15 points from 16 games isn't great. Even so that would be 39 points which should be enough to avoid relegation. Think we will be somewhere between that and the 44 from last season.

I have revised my prediction downwards from 44 to 40. But I also reckon that 34 points would keep us up - revised downwards by 1. Edited by peterg (13 Feb 2022 12.06pm)

About this time every season when we have a bit of a lean spell, I usually say I can’t see where the next win is coming from. We then go on to win two or three,(or five in pulis’s season) on the trot and alls well. So I reckon we’ll still do our usual and finish in the forties, I’ll go for 41 this year
