I just don't understand this one. Probably the area in our squad with the most competition...why bring in another? Playing just one of Gallagher, Eze and Van de Beek seems silly.

Aaaah. Nice one. Could be interesting as am sure we'll use the remaining 2 loans, but who would have to go? DVdB is a very good player mind you.

100% would take him for 6 months, I don't rate Schlupp as a Cm, does much better on the wing. DVB would add some class to our midfield, I'd expect him to react like Sakho did when he came on loan from Liverpool after being frozen out.

Utd want him in their squad for next season so no buy option available, however if he likes it here and kicks off it's a potential major coup as Gallagher will go...

I think the only way we want him is a 6 month loan that is extendable to 18 months. Otherwise, I think it's a waste.
We don't need him to be clear of relegation, and don't really have a hope of making Europe.

Also, I'll note that midfielders are probably the most difficult to plug into the team, so would probably be a few weeks before he's at his best.

We have numbers in midfield hut are they quality numbers? I think past Hughes Gallagher and Kpuyate the others are poor, Mcarthur is the only one who can do a job outside that 3 but he could be done with this injury. If we have the opportunity to add a 4th option with real quality then we should do it. Hughes Gallagher and VdB can all play in a mobile 3 that can all attack and defend.

His father-in-law is PV’s old teammate Bergkamp

Don't think they could. Hughes Gallagher and Vdb are great ballers but would get slaughtered against more physical teams. Need the presence of a Kouyate or Luka in there too.

And to answer your other question, you forget a little guy called Eze...who's our future at 10 (hopefully).

Look, I wouldn't mind getting him in. Obvious quality. Just think there are other areas that need strengthening more...a quality left back to compete with Mitchell, for a start.

Tend to agree with you on this one Sprites although Luka's very much a last resort for me. Can't see Eze featuring too much in midfield this season, sadly, unless there are further injuries. Whilst another LB would be a good addition, I suppose it's a question of whether the right type is available in this window. Not looking like it. As for VDB, he'll strengthen us if he comes so I wouldn't say no either.

I was thinking and maybe this could be a very good signing. Last season we all joked about West Ham signing another attacking midfielder when they got Lingaard as they already had about 12, but my god he was the dog's proverbials. Given results have not been so great maybe he would give us a boost. He is certainly desperate to play and impress and in the cameos I've seen him in he does look class. It's a weird one as I do have reservations but at the same time he would instantly improve our midfield. Maybe I'm too sentimental about existing players.

Is another LB going to improve the team, when you have Ferguson, Reidewald and Schlupp who can cover.
If you take a loan, it needs to be someone, who can make a difference Beeky may be that loan.
Best 2 January loans we ever had Ashley Cole and Paul Stewart, who transformed the team.

As others have said, RB should be the priority as JW is the currently weak link. We’re probably working on this.

However, DVB is a seriously high quality player, it would be an incredible signing, but a big step down for him. Not sure he’d want to be here. He was one Ajax’s star players of their 2018 Champions League semi final run, and in my opinion is Man Utd’s best midfielder. Doesn’t seem to fit in there though for some reason.

Maybe we should fit the players we have available to the best formation that fit them, instead of trying to shoehorn players in for the sake of 4-3-3
