My son, born and lived in Bristol- Dad where is exit 25? Me- what are you on about? Well they keep singing we're the boys from exit 25.
Every time I hear this now I get straight on the phone to him, he says he can't unhear it now.

In the fifties and early sixties, lyrics were often disguising wanting to have sex and not being able to. Or teenage boys' habits during these testosterone-fuelled years. It can be an amusing game to decipher those lyrics. For instance, the Who's 'Pictures Of Lily' I often thought was about having a hand shandy over a photo. Then there's the Everly Brothers 'All I Have To Do is Dream'. If you substitute W***k for dream, it says it all and is a giggle. I'm a smutty child, me. Lol

When I started this thread I thought more of you might describe the memories triggered by a song or it's lyrics. I guess the misheard lyrics are more fun. When I first heard Burl Ives singing 'Mersey boats and dozeydotes' on Children's Favourites with Uncle Mac I couldn't figure it at all. As for the memorable stuff. Whenever I hear or play All Shook Up by Elvis it takes me back to the jukebox in Morello's Ice Cream Parlour in Broadstairs where I first heard it. Another memory jogger is Guantanamera by The Sandpipers. It was played everywhere in Ibiza in 1969 when on holiday there with my present wife while we were still 'going out'. Morellos Ice Cream parlour! Used to holiday in Broadstairs every year with my parents ( until they discovered Spain) and holiday wasn’t complete without a Morellos Ice Cream.

On the song memory side, when I first heard God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols it blew my head off. It was a few weeks before my 13th birthday and I was having breakfast before going to school. We always had to listen to Radio 4 which was really boring, then this morning they were discussing this band and played that song, just blew me away, the music, the lyrics, the anger of the music, just great, and I've been in to punk ever since, still going to gigs and finding great new bands to listen to.
