No big reason for asking but wondering now that now Derby's season is well and truly ended is Luke spending the last few weeks at Palace getting to know a few of the players / staff and so on?

Would be a nice positive environment to come into after the difficulties at Derby and set him up for pre-season

He's probably on holiday, I'd guess?

Today Paper talk is suggesting he will go out on Loan next season and that Coventry are interested in taken him?

Seems pointless to me. Might as well throw him in and see what he's got at this level.

There seems little point in him coming to Palace to join the U/23 team. A Championship move would make total sense and give him another years experience.

We could then look watch his development and see if he really is premiership material. He did only cost us £1m…so no risk of being out of pocket.

Or…take him on the tour of Asia and see what he is like.

Defo go on the tour and play pre season friendlies.

Then based on how that goes keep for the early League cup games and then loan out or loan out when the season starts but it has to be a Championship team and a reasonable one at that.

PV acknowledged that it would probably have been better had we sent out Rak-Sakyi on loan for the second half of the season.

These better youngsters need regular game time playing men's (not boys') football.

Plange is unlikely to get minutes ahead of Mateta or Edouard next season, so little point in him being benched or put in the U23s. Far better for him to go to a Championship team that want him on loan and it seems Coventry want him, which suggests they've seen enough of him to think he can be of use to them (he played the second half against them back in March). Sending him out on loan to Coventry or other decent Championship team seems eminently sensible to me.

A matter of opinions, of course.

Being sent to Coventry before you've even arrived at your new club seems a bit harsh.

I'm only guessing, but I would imagine he will come in for pre-season for Vieira and the coaching team to run the rule over him. I would imagine it's highly likely he'll go out on loan, but it's also possible they may see something that suggests he could offer something to our first team. I think this 5 subs rule may have a big influence on how the coaching team view the squad. I certainly think Rak-Sakyi so should go out on loan to the Championship for a season to earn his stripes. I reckon they'll be quite a few clubs interested too.

Harry Kane went on loan to four clubs before making it at Spurs, nothing wrong with loaning young players out to gain experience. Plange has made a career total of 15 appearances, scoring three goals. Clearly he's a decent prospect but not much evidence that he is ready for the Premiership.

A number of posters have agreed that loaning him out (having seen him with the squad in pre-season) is the most likely outcome and, unless he excels in pre-season, sensible for all concerned.

He got 4 goals in 1700 Championship minutes so on that basis he won't get game time with us next season, certainly nothing more than the odd 5 minutes here and there which doesn't help. We have three strikers ahead of him and we only ever tend to have one on the pitch.

Keep him for a bit of pre-season to integrate with the squad, sure, but a loan is definitely the right move as it probably is with Rak-Sakyi. Both those guys need 30+ starts next season. Rak-Sakyi only possibly stays if Ayew leaves and we don't replace.

If it is a case (as it seems it is) that he is not going to get much, if any, game time with us then loaning him to Coventry is by far the best decision all round.

IMO it is better for him to get involved with the Coventry systems of play, tactics etc as soon as possible to enhance his chances of playing and performances with them as that will aid his development better than doing pre-season with us and then being loaned out. It makes more sense for him to do pre-season with Coventry.
