As I told you before, I have a couple of years on you so anything you were around for, so was I.Thanks for replying to pointless threads-the irony!

That's quite interesting.

So what was you take on the whole seventies, IMF begging bowl, unions wouldn't bury the dead thing?

Mine was that the unions killed their political golden goose and significantly hurt the country.....and the normal Joe and Jane paid for it while the union leaderships just disappeared off into the sunsets.

Labour in the eighties spent their time hating on Thatcher (with considerable support from media) when it was them themselves who created the support for her leadership in the seventies....which is an echo I see throughout history. Labour had a golden chance in the seventies and royally fecked things up.

Nowadays the left are the elites themselves and aren't even for the working classes.....it's a fecked up world.

Yeah, I remember the right to work march in Croydon-thousands took part, came down the industrialised purley way! The seventies were bad days, although im suprised you remember them that well as i have a few years on you to and its only a distant memory- weren"t you watching swop shop then? Whoever is in power- the worker bees get stuffed- but thats not an excuse to let a man on £650k a year off the hook for urging pay restraint!

Yep it's true, I was mainly watching Swap Shop and Tiswas...that might even be a little later.

I remember the silver Jubilee and seeing James Callaghan outside 10 Downing street....what I was doing there I can't say, must have been some school trip.

Most of my seventies knowledge comes from my love of history and how my family talked about it.

Yeah, i liked swopshop-tiswas passed me by, yes, silver jubilee where everyone got a massive 25p coin at the street party- wonder what happened to them? Nothing changes as the worker bee, he has to keep working-and longer now than ever to collect his pension-or pot of honey-oh well, back to the grindstone.

If the pensions are still around in this form for the next generation I'll be very surprised.

Well, I highly doubt I'll be about....whether we approach it by the left or right one thing is pretty much for certain, independent of who we blame....the next generation have been royally screwed and betrayed all ways to Sunday.

Yep, the only thing the next generation have are better technology.....Probably great for living in their rented pods and eating their plant and bug burgers. Lets hope that automation saves their arses and it's a lot better than that.

Because as I see it, the politicians and global power structures via neo liberalism have considerably worsened everything else for them.
