I think it’s Vieira. He has stated he is coaching Wilf actively and looking for change

This naturally springs to mind. But then again if there has been an honest discussion between player and manager then it is a topic that would have been brought up. I prefer to see Zaha play without a scowl on his face, smile, and celebrate with his team mates - we saw those things yesterday. His future is in his hands.

Why am I not surprised people going over the top again he did nothing special in this game he bagged two easy goals towards the end of the game against a team which really looked poor.

So many here clearly do not watch the full games this is the same as the journalists that give reports for games they dont even watch the full games.

He looked ok for first 10min then did almost nothing until towards the last 15min.

The one good thing was he wasn't doing his standard sulking etc if he can continue that good I don't expect he will.

I'd suggest 'going over the top' was when you said "sooner this guy is dropped or sold, the better for the club" and now you just feel a bit silly. Describing his two goals as 'easy' is quite amusing, fair play.

I certainly watched the full game and thought barring Hughes, Wilf was our best player. Tracked back superbly and offered Mitchell an out-ball from tricky positions over and over again.

Wilf is holding all the Cards, he is offered a reduced contract, or is sold probably for about 15m in the summer, enough to buy a younger replacement, you cant leave it for another year and let him walk away for free, that is terrible business sense.

That's if he will go which I very much doubt. Far better deal for him now is to hang in on £120k/wk til summer 2023. Depending on his form (or not as we are wont to do) Palace may offer him another season or two at a very attractive salary. Or on a free transfer subject to form he shoiuld be able to match it with a good signing on fee and lower salary.

I expect we will try and get him for another couple of years this summer. Lets face it, Wilf is still a huge part of Palace and hopefully will be for a good while yet.

Agreed, i would like him to get a new contact on maybe 80k a week, for 3 years if he signed it now, if not sell him and replace in the summer

Replace with who?

That will be as anywhere as influential in the team.

I hear you, but more like same salary til 2025 if he signs this summer would be my guess.

Also, sell him to who? The idea that there are a load of suitors for Zaha on a £120k per week contract is simplistic.

He's got no real incentive to take a pay cut and I can't imagine clubs queuing up to pay him what we do.

That's before you even get onto replacing someone so influential.

If I had my way, and the situation did play out as some are suggesting, would no doubt be ASM from a relegated Newcastle for me. Looking unlikely however would not think it beyond the realms of possibility! A newer generation Wilf/Bolasie in my eyes.

Alternatively, it does look as though we are moving towards a team less dependant on a one of a kind winger/attacker (Wilf) to more of a well oiled machine with the relevant cogs in place, which may see our attentions towards a more 'sensible' player rather than a luxury flair one.

Just a thought of course!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

A very poignant remark and one I have been pondering.

Asides from a very ill-judged panic buy I cannot see many suitors for high salary, poorly disciplined, 30+ ageing winger. I'm confident enough to say that Wilf's brightest future and opportunities probably did lie away from Selhurst Park.. about 5-10 years ago. However now, I almost feel as confident in saying his best place is probably to stay here. At the very least he is loved and adored by the majority, if not all fans and almost guaranteed PL football for a few more seasons.

Still looms upon me however that this situation has the potential to fizzle out or end very badly for all concerned, and am more worried for Wilf's legacy as a Palace 'legend' than any immediate consequences for us or him.

If we're currently paying him 120K a week I doubt he'll re-sign for 25% less. All boils down to what offers come in for him & whether others value him as much as we do, may well be tempted by a bigger team but, will they match or beat the wage &, if he leaves is he guaranteed a starting place in the 1st team or destined to be a 'bit player' in a much better squad. What's the point jumping ship to sit on the bench & have little or no role in any cup / league winning side ?
