I don't think there's a chance in hell we would let Wilf walk for the sake of a £30k reduction in wages or something so relatively negligible. 10-goal a season wingers are hard to find and an expensive commodity.

If Wilf continues how he was against Watford, he stays all day every day.... It must have been a wake up call for him or a relief... to see MG get the arm band... he's no longer the golden boy.... he may be relieved....... the pressure is off... or he may feel he has a point to prove. It's clear to see that palace is the right club for zaha, but it felt for a long time that he disagreed but that moment has passed... the clubs he may have wanted, didn't come calling and they won't. I would hope he can see that the squad right now, is exciting... and instead of maybe competing with it... go with it.

Wilf can go sulking and missing during parts of a season! But when we really need him he always steps up! when we have that bad run of games not winning he usually always drags us out of it! That's c£5m we would prefer not to pay. Then as our highest earner it is the benchmark used by other agents to negotiate. If an agent says i want 50% of Wilf's salary that's now £65k per week, but if he was on £80k half of that that's £25k less. So there is an add on effect. CPFC 2010 will negotiate hard and get the best deal for the club I am sure but in the end that deal will involve retaining Wilf and it will almost certainly also be the best deal for him too. Those criticising Zaha’s performance are comparing him now as a 29 year old playing alongside other PL quality players with the 24 year old Zaha playing in a team of much lower ability players where the last thing the coach said to the team was “Get the ball to Zaha”. It’s not surprising that he seems to be playing worse than those days - he is 4 or 5 years older so is a lot less ‘flashy’ and he is now just one member of the team. The only area where the criticism is valid is his attitude on the pitch. He needs to be less petulant and angry - but a) that anger has motivated him to get us goals in the past and b) Patrick Vieira is coaching him through this and helping him deal with it.

Secondly, Wilf is clearly in a slow decline. A 32 year old Wilf will clearly not be as good as the current 29 year old, just as he isn't quite as good as the 26 year old Wilf. All players decline at different levels depending on age, their body, injury record etc. Look at Willian at Arse last year compared to Chelsea the year before. A ghost of his former self. Rooney was shot at about 28. However, others can play into the mid 30s without any adverse effects. Wilf's decline has clearly already started
