There is zero proof of a significant invasion threat to Nato terrority.....To what aim exactly? What do Russia get out of that?

That would mean both war against highly equipped multiple professional armies and the threat of everyone getting nuked.

As for that guy, what he thinks is an equivalent to those that wanted us to invade Iraq and were prepared to say anything to enable it.

He is Russian and spent 10 years in prison so probably had a rough idea what Putin is about and his aims are

In fact he was fooled by Putin and originally actively promoted him. If you don’t know who he is your not very well informed

Curious how anyone who questions or opposes Putin is somehow suddenly guilty of a list of crimes isn't it, or slips over a balcony.. The man is clearly someone who truly paid a price for his convictions even if he was pardoned a deacde in. As he acknowledges himself, he was a political prisoner.

I tend to think that Putin is more set on continuing to push divisions within NATO countries, and favouring the likes Le Pen, Orban etc who will be 'friendly' enough to Russia for them to eventually use it to significant advantage. This is hardly a secret on Russian state TV and is basically the blueprint of the Foundations of Geopolitics [Link] They certainly have their eye on expacnding territory but it's the long game. Even some of the right acknowledge that Putin's attempt to stoke divisons and criticse Western cultures are just the latest mask designed to get some onside rather than a genuine interest in peace or some kind of 'brotherly' solidarity. We can see that it works, so it's understandable that he takes that tack.

Why?

That is definitely projection pal. Swap that for Zelenski and that's exactly what you have been doing to me and others.

Literally every word of that conflicts with what Putin has said recently. He does not consider Ukraine to be a sovereign nation. You can daydream about how many pushups you think he can do as much as you like but he has stopped being subtle about what he wants. On Russian state tv, they are openly discussing how many troops they will need to take back the FORMER soviet block so I think we are well past the point where we can debate this. He has bought a gun, walked into the bank, demanded money and started shooting at everyone, you are still debating whether or not he has bought the gun for self defence

Where are you getting this from and what has that got to do with Putin?

So the countless opposition leaders, political opponents and the like who mysteriously fall from balconies, are poisoned, are suddenly' guilty of a laundry list of crimes the very moment they cause Putin a problem are all significant of the imagination are they? And they routinely turn the screw even when they are locked up as a lesson to others .. Why do you think so many of his political opponents are now exiled? And even some of them are hunted down. Or have you convinced yourself, like everything else remotely critical of Russia, than none of this has actually happened and its' all just 'Western media lies!'. Good puppet.

So your latest madcap view of the day is that despite us knowing the polar opposite to be true, Putin and the Kremlin have absolutely no influence on what appears on Russian State TV? Even legally we know that not to be true.

I always back up my sources.

This also happens in the west (and in Ukraine) and this thread is about the rights and wrongs of the Ukraine war. This is just diverting away from the subject in hand. You cannot justify sending billions of dollars in taxpayers money to Ukraine because you don't like the Putin regime. Obviously you main argument is that the invasion was wrong but my argument is like Iraq It's nothing to do with us, like Iraq people have been fooled into supporting this because they do not understand the situation or the regime in Ukraine and (c) It's very much to the detriment of our national interest

No, you post random unsourced twitter links as if they're something profound as long as it agrees with the angle you wish to push. But no, before you ask I don't have all day to search through your posts to show you, so that's that done with.

I'll help find articles for you though, if you're not motivated to do so (I wonder why):

Here is one of Putins top propagandists stating that they will ‘demilitarise’ Nato. Another said they will only stop advancing through Europe when they reach Stonehenge - [Link]

Russian state TV discusses invasion plan for seizing Baltic states - A former senior officer laid out a chilling scenario for Putin's army capturing Nato countries Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as grabbing parts of neutral Sweden - [Link]

You constantly attack our media, which at least has a degree of autonomy, and yet give a total free pass to Kremlin approved media on the basis that you 'don't speak Russian' or 'don't believe Western media'. I mean, come on...

I hardly think the BBC is featuring segments on nuking or occupying Russia, and that employees are arrested if they disagree with the war or state its even happening.

So you are stating the view of TV personalities as the official policy of Putin?

Does Piers Morgan represent UK military strategy?
