The west effectively put sanctions on itself.

And to what end? This is the part I genuinely struggle with. It makes me smile when people moan about Russia 'weaponising' the supply of gas when it has had all kinds of sanctions imposed on it. What is it meant to do? Just keep on doing what the West wants?

These sanctions are the equivalent of deciding to poison somebody then swallowing the pills yourself.

Meaning our leaders are either moronic beyond compare...or else have deliberately sought to weaken us. There is no middle ground on this because you don't need much a of a crystal ball to realise what the impact would have been.

This idea that Putin is under threat in Russia is beyond laughable. It is the same rubbish that underpins the disastrous sanctions narrative.

Still I guess it is not us having to have cold showers yet, unlike our German friends. And we ain't even in autumn yet, let alone winter.

As opposed to Ukraine? Look up what it did to those who opposed the Government prior to the last round of elections? Or what happened to its democratically elected Government in 2014. I wonder what opposition voices are allowed in Ukraine at the moment?

Or the West stopping us watch RT? Or listen to any voices who oppose the Ukraine Good/Russia Bad mantra?

No. You don't get to play that card. Berating Russia for acting as it has in launching the invasion, that I get but the West do not get to act like they are somehow on the side of democracy in Ukraine.
