As a slight aside, UEFAhave confirmed who is reffing the final on sunday for the lasses . . . UEFA have confirmed that Kateryna Monzul is set to referee Sunday's Euro 2022 final at Wembley.

She becomes the first Ukrainian to take charge of the showpiece, having officiated three games at the tournament already.

Who'd have thunked that would happen with such an upright law-abiding un-biased major company like them. Just as good as the bbc now(imo)

I think it's only really boxing that has kept the politics out of things.

It was earlier implied in the thread that as the Russians had invaded that concern for their treatment was less relevant than concern for the Ukrainians.

Also, when I highlighted war crimes against Russians it was notable just how little concern there was.

I think it's valid to condemn all of these abuses. No one should have a side when any of this happens.

Not that I think being overly wedded to a side in this conflict makes that much sense.

Exactly, there is no moral subjectivity. It’s either wrong or it isn’t.

I’ve seen the real footage (very dark unintended pun) and it’s f***ing grim.

The continuation of this war is an utter disaster for Ukraine.

"Ukrainians are entitled to mistreat Russian POW's" is what was said. That I expect is incorrect. Adjusting the statement to "less relevant" is not the same, but in answer to that..

if someone breaks into a home and rapes or kills the occupants, I have a little less concern for their wellfare over those they have chosen to abuse. Placed upon this situation that is not exclusively one side, but outside of extreme partisanship most of the aggression, and the invasion itself is coming from the Russian side and there are no clear lines of how much of the above they are willing and happy to inflict.

Agreed, this could have and should have been ended in negotiation in March.

The continuation is much worse for everybody with the Russians gaining more out of it than anybody.

Bad choices were made and it's like watching someone carrying on a high level chess game a major piece down....it's not rational but I guess the likes of you and me just have to suffer it.

There is a dangerously low degree of talent and ability in the state department.

You have shown yourself to be in agreement with that banned poster's viewpoint....Funny how you joined a matter of days after that poster was banned.

Regardless, no, this is a war where the Geneva convention holds. This is long standing and clear 'international' law.

There is no difference in treatment for different Pows dependent upon whether you agree with their government or not.

A war crime is a war crime, not buts or whataboutery.

I'm sorry that for you at least this seems to require them.

Wagner behind this. Nothing to do with Himars. No Russian guards were killed

Wagner mercenaries carried the out attack without Russian permission apparently

It's on video I've seen myself.

Russian Pows were shot in the knees and left to die on the floor, while their killers taunted them.

I saw a prisoner tied up knifed and then stabbed to death in the eye.

It's documented.

I'm sorry fella but you don't know what you're talking about.

Luckily, Russian intelligence has covered itself in glory. I particularly like the way they managed to bribe every Ukrainian official to just let the Russians roll in. Classic.
