So do you not think that's available now?
Personally i think this has to be reciprocal from the population as well. Too many people want stuff and spoon feeding. Alongside an entitled attitude. Just my take of course.

It might surprise you, and certainly will a few others here, that I completely agree with this.

Is it available now? We are getting there, but there are some who would like to reverse the trend.

Keir Starmer: 'Under my leadership, Labour’s commitment to Nato is unshakable'.

It's also unquestioning and wrong, another UK warmonger - its fortunate we cannot actually do anything anymore.

Starmer is bought and paid for. That much is now absolutely definite. There is zero appetite for any kind of British involvement in a war in Ukraine so Starmer can only be appealing to the paymasters who no doubt got him to scupper Labours election chances with the second referendum insanity, promoted him into the leadership and now pull his strings.

I don't suppose the current mob intended to incur quite the level they have when they won in 2019!

I mentioned an appreciation of the need to run a balanced budget, and that's true:-

That's probably the main weakness of representative democracy. Once the number one priority isn't to represent your members/electorate but instead what you think....well, then what you think can have a price and donators can dictate it.

Hence elites don't only get control via the international banks and global bodies restricting policies or enabling them by access, elites get a slice of control via the cheque book.

That's the strength of our representative democracy. The number one priority of our representatives is to do what their experience, and the information they access from experts, informs them is best for their constituents and the country, without being diverted by the need first consult the voters, let alone be bound by their views.

The electorate's job starts, and finishes, when they choose who will represent them. If things go badly wrong, they can recall them, in certain circumstances.

General elections are the moment when those representatives need to convince us that what has been done is what we needed, and what is planned, is what we need. If it isn't, we change them.

"Elites", international banks, global bodies and cheque books don't vote. We do. We have all the controls needed. Conspiracy theorists are best ignored, as they peddle lies to try to undermine our faith in our institutions.

Yep I read that too Matov. Pity they can't do something about his brother. Just as bad a character, if not worse. They seem a crazy pair.

My neighbour used to meet with both of them, Starmer and others every second Tuesday. Said Jezza was barking, worse than his mad brother. Sir Keir was well liked and very down to earth.

Looks like a bit of a war coming up in the Labour Party!
Brave to do it but probably the right move long term.
Despite our various views on this forum I doubt any of us like extremism either way - it is no way to run a civilised society that's for sure.
Corbyn is history now anyway so he might as well disappear.

Not at all. Persistence and patience will always find a way. Itches are like conspiracy theories. They all need to be resolutely dealt with and then forgotten as the annoying little distractions they are.
