Agree with most of above but as mentioned before not to get beat in either game is more crucial in my opinion as they need the wins.

Mixed feelings from me. Thought Olise looked really really good early on - his touch and weight of pass is such a pleasure to witness. I think he and Ayew can play in the same team. Zaha looked good and industrious and was clearly up for this one.
The subs are what changed the game. We had bad luck in having to waste an outfield sub by bringing on Butland and both Chelsea's goal and disallowed one came just after their 3 sub's came on. Given the lack of game time in McCarthur, Clyne and Kouyate i think PV would have also brought on another outfield player a bit earlier if he still had a couple of subs left after bringing on Eze.
Tuchal decision could have backfired if one of their players got injured in the 20 minutes that remained when he made them. Credit therefore that we kept it tight for 70 mins to force him to have to take a calculated risk to try and win the game.

No shots on target sound awful, but we had three (or four) shots that sneaked just outside the posts. Give the team credit for their effort. The same midweek at Vicarage Road is needed but would like to see Gallagher and Hughes on for Ayew and Schlupp. And Clyne certainly deserves to keep his place - an impressive game from our "veteran".

I would keep Ayew on Wednesday.
He works so hard and I think that will be required against Watford.
Gallagher for Schlupp by all means as he wasn't at his best on Saturday.
Keep Clyne I agree - but remember - had he closed down the Chelsea cross on Saturday it might have ended 0-0!

The on/off shots on target statistic can be misleading. Olise's great second strike against Millwall that just hit the post is 'off target' but a tame toe poke into the keeper's arms in 'on target'.

Which one was nearly a goal?

In fact, you could have a goal scored that went in off the post as 'off target'. An off target goal.

Agreed I watched MOTD and according to my assessment both sides had the same number of "good" chances which of course is purely subjective.

It's also worth noting that of Chelsea's 3 shots on target one was that ridiculous 35 yard hit from Rudiger. Chelsea were kept at bay right until that final chance, with Butland only making one save (I think) and that turned out to be offside. Olise still seems to lack a bit of composure in front of goal despite being a bright spot in the current gloom.

I'm not a statistician, but according to this site we should be in seventh place [Link] There have been few games where we've been outplayed, even against the top sides, but we have to start taking chances. Personally it feels like once it clicks and the players find more confidence we'll start flying. At the moment I don't fancy anyone to score when they're one-on-one with the keeper, but I do think a lot of that is down to pressure. We're a younger team now with a less experienced manager and we just need to take a deep breath and support them.

So do we, we are averaging just 0.5pts/per game for Jan and Feb (MTD) if that trend continues then the points total we are looking at for the remaining games (13) would give us a final points total that could be circa 32/33 points and then we would be in big trouble. We have to win the matches against the teams below us if we want to secure another season in this league especially as we have failed to beat both Norwich and Brentford recently which says a lot about our form, pretty football it may be but results and goals scored is what is going to keep us in EPL as Charlton, Wigan and Sunderland fans will all know!

True but with no clear cut centre forward to hit was largely wasted. Need the right formation to fully exploit his talent.

I thought the same and he has possibly taken Joel's place, maybe permanently.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).
