Can you explain therefore why PV thought it a wise move to weaken that side by taking Ayew off and bringing non covering non tackling Eze on?

Maybe he is a crap manager, time will tell

Also take Ayew out and you can put Olise and Zaha either side of either Benteke or Edouard in a front 3, still with Eze to come on for either Zaha or Olise... Surely that produces more threat than Ayew starting

When Ayew was subbed off yesterday, they scored from the ball crossed from where he would of been, Eze was just watching as he jogged around,
Eze is a bit of a liability when defending and people think he will replace Gallagher next season, not a chance. He will be sold, not a Vieira type of player.

On the money. I was thinking that the only place on the field for Eze's plus points is central midfield, as the hub, an Iniesta / Xavi / Pirlo type player - receive, pass, move etc. Demands good control and situational awareness otherwise you are likely to get clattered, and as we have seen, Eze is not keen on the tackling aspect of the game. I guess it depends on how the rest of the season pans out.

Thought the line up worked pretty well for most of the game. If Zaha or Olise had buried one of their chances we would be hailing Vieira as a tactical genius.

Can someone tell Zaha it’s ok to press the player on the ball and it’s also ok to jump for a header in a challenge

He hasn’t done either for years now. Yet another infuriating part of his game. He never challenges for an aerial ball which is quite literally just pathetic and is indicative of his whole attitude.

Just cannot understand playing Ayew for 85 minutes and Edouard for none.
Say what you like about Benteke, he can't have done worse than yesterday's front three. No shots on goal in the entire game.

Appears to be well out of favour and Matete is preferred to him.
There are supporters who don't rate either player.
Eduoard has not had an extended run playing through the centre.
We don't have an established front man and of course we have only scored 2 goals in our last 5 PL games.

Therein lies the problem. Burnley and Watford are massive matches all of a sudden. Not so long ago they appeared formalities.

But they didn’t and they didn’t even hit the target. No strikers until the 92 minute and no shots on target…

Would be good to see Edouard Zaha and Olise up front for 90 minutes. There was a lot of movement going on yesterday and I reckon Edouard is more mobile than Ayew.
Gallagher MacArthur and Kouyate are where we were before Jimmy got injured.
Surely that would be to good for Watford and Burnley. Although Cornet could cause us problems.
The wind played a part in Alonso late cross but watching the replay Mitchell should have done better. He was caught in no man’s land and was punished. Al part of his learning curve and he is good at that.

No, this is me, firstly we have to play, Zaha, Goalscorer, Olise as our front three
1, Edouard 141 games 66 goals in, top divisions in France, Scotland, England, goal every 2.13
2. Ayew, 352 games, 58 goals, in top divisions in France and England, goal every 6.11 games
3.Benteke, 368 games 115 goals, in top divisions in Belgium and England, Goal every 3,3 games
4,Mateta, 86 games, 26 goals in top divisions in Germany, France and England, goal every 3.2 games
Edouard and Benteke's records are a bit clouded as the Scottish and Belgium leagues are Not at the same level
As PV bought both Edouard and Mateta he has to decide on which of the two he prefers and give them the rest of the season in that position

Gosh Lanzo, I find myself agreeing with virtually everything you said above. Virtually - not completely. IMO Zaha needs a spell on the bench to see how the chosen front 3 play as a team. I'd like to see a front 3 of Edouard - Mateta and Olise for half a dozen games and see how they gel.

Ayew certainly does put a shift in, especially defensively. He also puts in more through balls than any other of the midfield or front 3 (just look at official prem stats)... Would this mean there would be room for him on the right hand side of the middle 3. Bit like how Schlupp does sometimes on the left.

That would provide more protection for our rb, plus we can leave a credible attacking threat pressing up top.

I agree, we need Zaha, Edouard and Olise to have a run of games... Eze then to come on for either Olise or Zaha. Edouard is class in my opinion, he's goals and assists.

Hopkin looks to curl one!
