I've sent the message below to the Club.

I appreciate I’m jumping the gun here, but perhaps something to consider if the above is confirmed.
I live in Thailand and seriously considering trying to see Palace live, although Covid is a factor, besides quite a bit of other arranging. Possibly too complicated for many? But even the wife says I can go!
I wonder if other Palace fans living out this way, or taking in the game as part of a holiday break, might be interested.
Fans in Asia are football-crazy, but a tendency as expected, to follow the ‘big’ Clubs. Most fans would, of course, be local.
What I’m thinking is that it would be great to have a show of Palace fans in the stadium, amidst a sea of red sheep.
It’s too early to establish whether a dedicated Palace area would normally be allocated.
Perhaps CPFC should ‘test the water’ through whatever means to establish how many Palace fans from wherever might be intent on supporting and ensure some dedicated red/blue seating is arranged through the organisers/ticket agencies?
Just an idea.
Brian Davis

But wait.

A friend has just sent details of ticket prices for the Liverpool v Man U game in Bangkok, which takes place before Liverpool fly to Singapore and the Palace game (my understanding). The cheapest seat for the game in Bangkok equates to about 100 pounds sterling.
I have to accept that Palace v Liverpool isn't quite the same 'big' game, but if those prices are repeated in more expensive Singapore, then that will deter many, maybe me too.

Yes, my understanding is that Palace is en route to Australia and Man Utd will be there too. I'm uncertain about Liverpool.

If anyone remembers the Harlem Globe Trotters exhibition matches in London?

They were up against a ho-hope team of white boys who always got tanked.

I see us set up for the same fall, with the locals all turning up to watch their well-healed heroes give us a hiding, and the referees dutifully assisting.

If I ever thought Palace would be falling over to let the opposition 'showboat'for the locals enjoyment, then I wouldn't have bothered with this and certainly wouldn't waste any money on it. The HGT and wrestling are for fun and entertainment with pre-arranged moves and agreed outcome etc. I certainly can't imagine Vieira going along with an 'arrangement', but it's in the interest of both teams to play brightly, competatively, but avoiding e.g.crunching tackles. Palace would want to put on a good display to win new friends. My memory goes back to Gerrard's last game for Liverpool. That's how I view it anyway. But you've given me some cause for thought and the likelihood of the use of numerous substitutes, does make it seem like a training exercise.

I hope it won't work that way either but it is I fear how the locals will view us.

Palace were due to go to Australia either last pre season or the one before but got cancelled due to Covid. Given that things look like they are slowly going to open I wouldn’t be surprised if they rearranged it for this pre season
