Well that was about as enjoyable as digging a hole in concrete.

I hope the Stoke supporters have a nice dry journey home.
All that way down here to get a thorough soaking. At least they were in a nice comfy proper footy stadium.

We move in the direction of our thoughts.
Just think a little.

Hopefully Jairo features more can play full back, CB and in midfield.

With those subs either Vieira has either lost the plot or wants us to lose within 90 minutes.

Yes terrible decision to bring on the player who scores the winning goal!

In case anyone is unawares, Boro are still 0-0 with Spurs and looking the more likely atm! Would be grateful to see them win and draw them in 1/4s.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Jairo is a big strong technically skillful player. Do we not like those?

So Reidwald showing more awareness, composure and skill than any other Palace player all evening counts for nothing?

I agree with both of you. It SHOULD have been an easy goal but there was 5-6 other players you could see fluffing that one tonight. Credit to Jairo for the winning goal. Not sure you can say credit to Patrick V for the substitution- I still think it was bizarre!

Yeah you can congratulate him on that, but it should be put away from there by a player being there. That was not a tactical or clever substitution that resulted in the goal. I suspect it was just planned for then

His mobility always seemed an issue, for me anyways.

Mind you, having seen Will Hughes show all the athleticism and speed of an asthmatic snail carrying two bags of shopping in the build up to their goal tonight there is a case!

I am pretty sure Vieira was as gobsmacked as the rest of us when Jairo scored!

On the other hand...a banana skin averted. There's nothing wrong with 'winning ugly'. We've never been very good at that.

Certainly not a memorable game.

Positives
We're through.
Adaramola looks a real prospect.
We scored from 2 set pieces - short corners should definitely be attempted more as we have no luck from swinging them in.
Pleased for Jairo to get the winner.

Negatives
Overall performance was fairly poor - but we got through.
Missed opportunity for Eze and Edouard to get more minutes... I might be reading to much into things but something feels a little off with their situation.

Let's hope we put in a better display against Wolves... and get a decent draw for the Quarter-Final.
