While some of the OP’s opinions may seem extreme, it’s not to say there may not be a kernel of truth in some of them.
Who on here hasn’t questioned the chopping and changing of the strikers and the lack of opportunity given to the likes of Edouard and Eze?
If we had players in their positions who were bang in form and undroppable then fair enough.
But that is not the case.
I think Vieira is doing a good job, but at the same time it’s not being disloyal to say there are areas that could be improved.
He himself has been more critical of the team in recent weeks.
If we just blindly say ‘In Vieira we trust ‘ or ‘he sees them in training so must know what he’s doing,’ then we may as well do away with forums as just follow some form of Groupthink.

I don't think anyone is saying that Vieira could improve but equally we don't need a new thread every time Lanzo wants to rephrase the same opinion he's already shared 500 times.

I'd also suggest debating these things is perfectly reasonable, but phrases like "maybe PV has done his job and now we need a good manager" and "11th is just about as bad as we could have done" just destroy any credibility. No one is going to have a serious discussion with someone posting s***e like that.

For what it's worth, I think Eze and Edouard can both feel a little hard done by that they haven't seen more opportunities of late, but equally I don't think either have done anything to make themselves undroppable when the chances have come along. Eze in particular has played poorly when given minutes.

I think the point is, with your constant negativity when things are actually going okay, you’re about as interesting as a wet weekend in Weymouth

I really hope that doesn't constitute a significant contribution to your self value or worth. Might explain quite a bit though.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Patrick Patrick
We don't need to escalate
You see, 4-3-3 is not the answer
For only Royball can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some 4-4-2 here today, oh (Oh)

Picket lines (Zaha) and picket signs (Zaha)
Don't punish me (Eduoard) with brutality (Eduoard)
Talk to me (Patrick), so you can see (Patrick)
Oh, what's going on (What's going on)
What's going on (What's going on)
Yeah, what's going on (What's gg on)
Oh, what's going on

I can't agree with Lanzo's post - like many others I would have been delighted if you'd told me before the season that at this point we'd be 11th and in the cup QF. But I do think there are some concerns. In my view we have gone backwards since the early part of the season. The problems (conceding late goals, unable to defend set pieces) haven't been resolved and some of the good bits (energetic pressing game, some fast attacks) have got worse. Still supportive of PV and far happier than I thought I'd be at this point, but slightly worried that he and his coaching team aren't learning whereas the opposition have worked us out, and also unconvinced by apparent switch in selection and tactics from game to game.

How I feel! Well summed up.

Earlier in the season many were crying out for more Olise, Benteke to be dropped, Clyne to replace Ward, Hughes to be given game time, youth team players to be given a chance.

PV has done all of this. So what have we learned:

Olise has the potential to be our next Wilf. Not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination but the potential is there.
Benteke has been replaced by Mateta. The jury is still out on this one as they clearly have different strengths and weaknesses. But we know all about Benteke so surely it’s worth giving Mateta a decent run to see if he can develop into the answer.
Ward maybe a little slow these days but is clearly a better right back than Clyne. Neither is the long term solution however.
Hughes blows hot and cold. Has great games and then dreadful games. A decent squad player.
Great to see Tayo given a chance last night. He should have a future at the club.

Regarding Eze and Eduard. These points are yet to be addressed. I thought Eduard played well off the left when Wilf was away at Afcon. Trouble is he won’t start ahead of Wilf. Maybe he gets his turn down the middle in due course if Mateta doesn’t work out.
Eze I think will benefit from a full preseason, and hopefully a few more minutes as this season draws to a close. But to be fair on PV he can’t do everything all at once.

I find it very questionable the way some of our supposedly "key" players are being used particularly Eze and Edouard, i assume PV doesn't rate him at all even though he bought him, and Eze before his injury was outstanding playing on the left side and cutting in, our quality attacking players are Wilf, Olise, Eze and Gallagher and they should all be used in our first 11
G
RB CD CD LB
DM DM
Ol GAL EZ
WILF
This should be the starting 11 every game until the end of the Season,(injuries Permitting) and Rak-Sakyi coming off the bench to get integrated in the first 11.
When i think of the dross Roy had last season and the incomings since PV arrived i think 11th is just about as bad as we could have done at this stage of the season, Maybe PV has done his job and attracted the players and now we need a manager

Eze was terrible on the left, you're clueless, he can't get in the team because he's not fully fit and is a lightweight luxury player that does nothing off the ball, these players don't exist in today's game, hopefully we take Newcastles hands off if they offer 45 mill
