I would love to see us play 4-4-2 against the weaker sides with Edouard/Mateta and Zaha, Macca, Gallagher, Olise behind them. It would of course mean The midfield 4 have to put in a big shift.

I’m a fan of Metata . There’s something about him. Good positional awareness and his height unnerves defenders. We always seem to play better with him up front. Also he wasn’t given a chance unlike Benteke who was given more chances than any player in the history of the game.
The beatings will stop when morale improves. |

He's also 24, while Benteke is in his 30's. I think this is why PV is playing him, he can improve, while CB is unlikely to do so. I also thought he was a waste of space when he first joined. But have been pleasantly impressed by his goal scoring in the past few months. Originally posted by NE14T

Huge performance. Where did that come from?! JPM was great, excellent runs and some nice link up play. Jeff was unplayable, powerful surging runs. Wolves didn't know how to deal with him.

Just back from the match. For those knocking Mateta and Schlupp, they were both top notch today. Wilf back to his best, focused and benefiting from a bit of balance on the other side from Olise. Mitchell and both CBs were excellent today.

As normal from yourself. You make a nothing statement You really are ——well I won’t say it. First half absolutely brilliant. We were awesome today. That first half performance was as good a 45 mins of football I can remember from a Palace team. 4/5 nil would not have flattered us. Second half we saw the game out. Fantastic win against a Wolves team that we made to look very ordinary.

Perfect away day performance, really unlucky not to get a third. Great distribution out from the back and Mateta is finding some form and looks more mobile than anyone else up top and causes problems for defenders.
